Everton have endured a mix start to the campaign and the Toffees fans here in the Tavern are looking forward to some exciting incomings during the transfer window!
Manager Ronaldo Koeman has led his side to a decent start in the Premier League and whilst they sit comfortably in the top-eight, the fight for European football is going to be a tough one for his side.
It’s seriously tight at the top-of-the-table and the Toffees are some way behind the chasing pack at the middle point of the campaign, despite some big investment over the course of the summer.
But that could all change in the coming weeks and with the club now backed by wealthy owners, the pressure is on the Dutch coach to keep and sell the correct players moving forward.
There’s certainly some strong opinions floating around the Everton corner of the bar right now and we want to put some of their suggestions down on paper as those at Goodison Park look forward to what is hopefully a bright new era.
So with that in mind, here’s 2 players Koeman should SELL this January and 2 he should definitely look to BUY as well…
Sell: Phil Jagielka

This might come as a real surprise for some Toffees fans, but there is little doubting that captain Phil Jagielka really hasn’t been up to scratch at times this season.
The fan favourite, known for his towering performances at the heart of the Toffees’ defence, has been out-of-form for some months now and we think Everton need better going forward.
If they’re serious about pushing for the Champions League, an allegiance to one of their longest-serving players might have to come to an end whilst they look for a decent replacement in the meantime.
Sign: Jesus Navas

Manchester City winger Jesus Navas isn’t one of Pep Guardiola’s regular starters at the moment and we think Everton could do far worse than bringing in the Spaniard, even if it is on-loan until the end of the season.
Gerard Deulofeu is being hotly linked with a move away from Goodison Park and a cracking addition down that right-hand side would be Navas, whose pace and skill would be a real asset in Ronald Koeman’s side.
Sell: Tom Cleverley

Gareth Barry and Idrissa Gueye have been superb for the Toffees during the first-half of the season and there is little reason in Tom Cleverley waiting around for a first-team place at the moment.
He’s struggling for game-time and with January approaching, Koeman will be looking to bring in his own players to push for the European places.
The former England international would command a decent transfer fee going forward and he might be a good player to move on to free up the wage bill elsewhere.
Sign: Morgan Schneiderlin

Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin is one of a handful of players that is being expected to leave Old Trafford this January and a move to Goodison Park has been touted for months.
He’s a quality player who is wasting away at United under Jose Mourinho and it’s clear he has the quality to add another dimension to this Everton side.
Despite Gareth Barry’s good form this season, the former Villa man is getting on now and getting in a worthy replacement is a very good idea indeed.
