Manchester City are one of a handful of sides chasing Chelsea in the Premier League and their fans here in the Transfer Tavern are predicting a long season ahead for the Citizens.
Despite their defeat at White Hart Lane in recent days, Antonio Conte’s side remain hot favourites for the Premier League and many bookmakers seem dead set on another Stamford Bridge reunion for the coveted trophy come May.
But with the likes of City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs still giving chase in what’s been a hectic campaign so far, their fans here would like to see City really push for the title in the coming months.
A strong sense of business in the transfer window is dominating chat throughout the sky blue corner of the Transfer Tavern at the moment.
And, as a result of all the chit-chat and banter, we’re going to have a look at some potential in-comings and outgoings that we might see at the Etihad this winter.
So with that in mind, here’s two players Pep Guardiola should look to bring in and two he should look to axe this January…
Out: Jesus Navas

Jesus Navas’ best days at the Etihad are over and whilst he remains a decent impact sub to bring on in tight games, he’s just not going to have the same impact as he did when he first joined the club.
The Spanish winger would still attract a hefty transfer fee and would make for an attractive bit of investment for another top side in the world but at City, he’s out of favour.
A move away from Manchester would probably be best for both parties.
In: Aymeric Laporte

Laporte would surely be an upgrade on John Stones as he’s one of the brightest centre-back prospects we’ve seen in years.
City punters seem to be liking the sound of a young, bright addition to the side, especially with captain Vincent Kompany’s injury woes still dragging out into the New Year. And, according to our landlord, a pairing of Laporte and Stones would surely see City set for years to come.
Out: Bacary Sagna

Again, he’s another player who has probably seen his best days at this level with the Citizens and so the next man we think should be in-line for the chop is Bacary Sagna.
Pablo Zabaleta is much preferred at right-back these days and the need to bring in a bright, young defender on that side of the field is increasing at a rapid rate.
Sagna isn’t ready to drop down a level just yet but as for fighting for the Premier League title? City can do better.
Sign: Matteo Darmian

Matteo Darmian has enjoyed a mixed-start to life under Jose Mourinho and it’s clear that he’s probably not going to be first-choice going forward for the Red Devils.
He’s a competent defender who can do a job at this level but for United, he’s just not the right fit.
That’s why this winter, we’d like to see City make a move to bring him to the other side of Manchester, even if it’s for a spot of defensive cover on that right-hand side.
