2 players who should follow Leonardo Bonucci to Man City in January if he joins

Manchester City supporters in the Transfer Tavern are eagerly anticipating their team’s return to Premier League action this afternoon, as the Citizens go in search of a 17th straight victory when they host Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola’s men brushed aside Tottenham 4-1 at Eastlands last week to open up a 14-point lead at the summit of the Premier League, yet neighbours Manchester United reduced that back to 11 with victory over West Brom on Sunday. Nonetheless, the Citizens look irresistible at the moment and continued their domestic dominance in midweek by knocking Leicester City out of the Carabao Cup, with Claudio Bravo the hero after he saved Riyad Mahrez’s penalty to secure a shootout victory for the North West outfit.

Thus, there have been many delighted City fans in the Tavern in recent times, several of whom are daring to dream about what their team could go on to achieve in the second half of the season, both domestically and in Europe.

In the meantime though, there has been much for our resident Citizens supporters to get their teeth into, not least recent reports linking them with a January move for AC Milan defender Leonardo Bonucci.

The 30-year-old made the move to the San Siro during the summer but things haven’t quite gone to plan for the Italian, to the point that he is reportedly unhappy at the club.

As such, City are reportedly interested in bringing him to the Etihad Stadium in the New Year, and were they to seal a deal for the centre-back, here are TWO other stars who should follow him to the club…

Take a look and be sure to let us know what you’re backing this weekend.

Ryan Bertrand

Left-back Ryan Bertrand made the move from Chelsea to Southampton first on loan and then permanently back in 2015, and he has since gone from strength to strength to the point that he is now England’s first-choice.

The 28-year-old has been hugely impressive in the Saints backline whether that’s defensively or going forward, with 125 appearances in little over three years indicative of his consistently high-level performances.

As such, interest has been mounting in the England star in recent times, with Man City one side thought to be keeping tabs.

And given that Benjamin Mendy will miss the majority of the season through injury, it’s a move Guardiola could well look to make in the New Year.

Alexis Sanchez

Alexis Sanchez’s contract situation has been rumbling on for some time now, and it doesn’t look like being resolved before the reopening of the transfer window in a fortnight’s time.

The Chile international has just six months left on his current deal at Arsenal and doesn’t look like extending that beyond the summer, thus plunging his future at the club into doubt ahead of the January market.

Man City are one side reportedly interested in doing a cut-price deal for the 29-year-old next month, and given that manager Guardiola and Sanchez flourished together at Barcelona in the past, it’s a deal the Spaniard must look to strike in the New Year.
