2 reasons why £45m-rated midfielder could be perfect for Man Utd

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are already looking ahead to who else could sign for Man Utd in the coming months…

It’s been a very exciting time to be a Man Utd supporter on the transfer front under Jose Mourinho, with the Portuguese given free reign to spend big thus far during his tenure.

Big names like Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku have already come in, but could another big signing be on the horizon? Well, according to the Independent, Arsenal ace Mesut Ozil could potentially be the next big player to move to Old Trafford, with Jose Mourinho said to be confident that a move may happen.

His current contract expires at the end of the season, and so if he doesn’t renew, he could be available on a free, and that will certainly influence their interest – given that he is rated at a whopping £45 million by Transfer Markt.

His qualities, though, mean that he could also be a great signing for the club on the field too, and this is a prospective deal that Jose Mourinho certainly will be excited about.

With that said, here are 2 reasons why £45m-rated midfielder could be perfect for Man Utd…

 Mourinho Connection

This could be key in getting a deal over the line, but it could also be important as Ozil looks to get back to his best.

The German really became a force under Mourinho during their time together in Spain, and there’s no reason why the manager wouldn’t be able to help him recover that fine form once again.

There is arguably no manager in world football better at getting the best out of his players, and Ozil desperately could do with a bit of that inspiration.

He’s been poor for Man Utd, but that talent is still there, but he needs someone reliable that can help him return to his best.

 Supplying The Attack

One thing that Man Utd lack in the attack is a player that can split open defences and provide a scintillating ball forward. This is key as Romelu Lukaku, as good as he has been this season, is absolutely lethal in the air, and this is something that the Red Devils are yet to really exploit.

Juan Mata is a decent option for this, but he has become more of a goalscorer as of late, and though he still pops up with the occasional assist, the Red Devils could certainly do with a bit more in that regard.

Thus, a move for Mesut Ozil does make sense. He has an incredible left-foot that, on his day, is able to strike a pin on the ground from a sizeable distance, and this is something that Man Utd’s attackers would love to feed off of.

He hasn’t been as impressive lately, but when you consider the pace, aerial dominance and lethality of Man Utd’s strikers, the German could be a perfect playing just behind them.
