The Arsenal supporters here in the Transfer Tavern have been bitterly disappointed with their team this season and many of the group are already casting an eager eye towards the next campaign.

The summer transfer window is set to be massive for the Gunners and whoever is the manger going into next season must ensure that the club are competitive, which inevitably means that the North Londoners will need to attract some new recruits.

Arsenal are miles behind leaders Chelsea this season and for a club like the Gunners to go as long as they have without winning the Premier League it is simply unacceptable for their long-suffering supporters here in the Tavern.

A newspaper article this morning has suggested that Barcelona misfit Arda Turan could be one of the club’s recruits in the summer and he would surely represent a big coup for the Gunners.

Stellar recruit

One thing Arsenal haven’t done quite so well in recent years is recruit stellar players at regular intervals and for a club the size of the Gunners that simply won’t do.

The signing of Turkish performer Turan would represent a real coup, not least because he has come from a club the size of Barcelona, but also because he is a better option than a lot of the rubbish which they possess right now.

One Gunners supporter is sat guzzling a bottle of beer here in the Tavern and he believes that the club should do all they can to ensure that they beat their rivals to the signing of Turan.

A signing to appease the supporters

Throughout the whole debacle surrounding Arsene Wenger’s future at the Emirates Stadium, it is impossible not to feel sorry for the club’s ardent supporters who have stuck by the club through thick and thin.

One of their biggest gripes with the French boss is that he has put far too much faith in a bunch of below-par youngsters, rather than going out and splashing the cash on the players needed to improve the squad.

A couple of Arsenal fans are sat by the cocktail bar here in the Tavern and they agree that Gunners fans do not expect success every season, although they do concede that the club’s signings in recent years have largely been poor and they think Turan’s arrival needs to be the start of a glut of stellar players to arrive at the club.
