2 reasons why Conte simply must start this 23-year-old against Nottingham Forest – agreed?

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are keen to see Michy Batshuayi impress in a blue shirt…

It’s been a very tough spell in London for the Belgian, but he can’t be expected to turn it around without regular game time. Crucially, he also needs to feature from the start, and thus far Antonio Conte hasn’t really given him that chance.

His opportunity could come on Wednesday, though, with Chelsea set to take on Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup.

It’s not exactly a priority for Chelsea, and so a few key first-teamers could be given the night off.

As a result, Batshuayi could get that elusive chance that he has been craving, and he’ll undoubtedly impress. Antonio Conte has a big call to make with regards to his team selection, but the Belgian is one player that he should definitely go for.

As if the boss needs any more convincing, here are 2 reasons why he simply must start Michy Batshuayi against Nottingham Forest – agreed?

Rest Morata

Alvaro Morata has had a good start to the season, but he can’t be expected to keep that up without having a rest.

He has played pretty consistently since he moved to the club, and Batshuayi has, conversely, not played much.

The cup isn’t a particularly important competition in the grand scheme of things, and so fringe players deserve a chance. Batshuayi has fallen into that category now, and he’ll need to earn his way out.

Atletico Madrid are the competition next week, and Morata is likely to feature then, so he could do with the day off.

Goals, Goals, Goals

Batshuayi has looked a little poor since the start of the season, but during pre-season, he excelled.

He’s clearly a big goal threat if he is in good form, and he’s only going to find his form if he is given regular game time.

It’s as important for him as it is for Morata, because Chelsea only have two forwards, and he can’t be expected to deputise for the Spaniard at a moments notice.

Everyone needs game time, and Batshuayi is no different. Give him time, and the goals will come.
