The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for Jose Mourinho to bring in a few defenders this summer. Whilst the Red Devils have looked good for much of the campaign, they’ve been let down at the back far too often, and so something has to change.
Fortunately, the summer transfer window offers a perfect opportunity to bring in a much-needed rejig at Old Trafford.
One player that would be perfect for the Red Devils is Samuel Umtiti, who is rated at £54m by Transfer Markt.

It would be a blow to lose out on Umtiti if he is available, but fortunately for Man Utd, there are a number of other defenders that would be right at home at Old Trafford.
With that said, here are 2 signings Mourinho should make if great rival beats Man Utd to Umtiti…
Salif Sane
Salif Sane has emerged as one of Europe’s brightest defensive talents this season.
A rock at the back, he has been a stalwart in the German Bundesliga.
On current form, he’s as good as anyone in Europe’s top leagues and given Man Utd’s stature, they only need to be signing the best.
He could form a deadly partnership with Eric Bailly in the defence.
Kurt Zouma
This would be a bold choice, but it is one that does make sense.
Man Utd have already had success in landing a Chelsea player with incredible talent in the form of Nemanja Matic, and so there is nothing to suggest that they can’t do it again.
Zouma is one of Europe’s best young defenders, but he doesn’t seem to be getting much of a look-in at Chelsea.
He was a favourite of Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford, and so perhaps the Frenchman could be keen on a reunion.
