23-year-old midfielder would put serious pressure on Pogba if signed by Man Utd – agreed?

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern have been very disappointed by the form of Paul Pogba this season. The Frenchman has been absolutely unbelievable at points, but amidst that, he has also gone through long stretches of mediocrity.

After a stellar display against Man City in the Manchester derby a few weeks ago, he had a dominant performance – scoring twice – but since then, he has once again fallen into a rut.

This is a huge problem for Man Utd, and so it came as no surprise to our resident Red Devils to hear that their club are said to be interested in Lazio’s midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. The club apparently, as per the Daily Mail, scouted him last week in an effort to better recognise his quality.

The Daily Mail are reporting that he could be viewed as a potential replacement for Michael Carrick or Marouane Fellaini, but our landlord thinks that he’d be far better placed to replace Pogba.

After all, the two players are far more similar than you might think on initial glance. Indeed, given Pogba’s poor form, Milinkovic-Savic could be seen as a great long-term replacement for him.

With that said, here are TWO reasons why the arrival of Savic would put some serious pressure on Pogba – do you agree?

 Poor Pogba Form

This is an obvious reason why the Red Devils could look to replace Paul Pogba.

The Frenchman, simply put, hasn’t been good enough this season. After a poor first season in England, he has yet to really adjust, and whilst moments of brilliance have come, they haven’t been nearly regular enough.

As a result, and if Man Utd want to challenge for a Premier League win next season, perhaps it might be time to move him on.

Not to mention, he cost the Red Devils a lot of money, and with Milinkovic-Savic rated at a whopping £89 million, his departure would give Man Utd some much-needed funds to land the Lazio midfielder.

 Milinkovic-Savic’s Qualities

There’s no doubt about it, Milinkovic-Savic is one of Europe’s best.

Standing at a towering 6ft1, he is a real presence in the middle of the park, much like Pogba, and that’s crucial – especially alongside a unit like Nemanja Matic.

His quality with the ball is also absolutely sensational. A brilliant passer and striker of the ball, he’s able to dominate games with his use of the ball – and that makes him a real threat both defensively and offensively.

Undoubtedly one of Europe’s best, the Serbian would be a real star in the midfield.
