After a difficult period for Aston Villa in 2018, things are looking up for the Midlands giants now they are back in the Premier League.
With Villa fan Dean Smith at the helm, the club are currently sitting above the relegation zone and have been able to break their transfer record on a big-money striker in the shape of Wesley, just a year on from the financial mess the club found themselves in after missing out on promotion under Steve Bruce back in 2018.
In fact, as reported by the Birmingham Mail last year, star man Jack Grealish was believed to be ready to leave his boyhood charges in order to raise funds and there were claims from Sky Sports that those behind the scenes had refused to pay for the team’s suits for the play-off final due to the precarious financial position they found themselves in.
So, with things looking up now, Christian Purslow’s interview with talkSPORT during which the chief executive claimed Villa were not under any pressure to sell their prized assets due to their improved financial position now in the top tier has gone done well amongst fans online.
