Hammers here in the Tavern are in dreamland having seen their side go unbeaten in their last 3 games, with a win against Chelsea a particular highlight. 

After starting the season in the middle of a relegation battle, the appointment of David Moyes has seen the Hammers enjoy an inspired run of form, after taking points off  Chelsea and Arsenal over the past couple of weeks.

Now having found his strongest Premier League XI, the cup competition gives the Scot a chance to see what some of the fringe players have to offer, the ideal opportunity for players to shine under a manager that rewards performances.

With a few minor injuries to note down, Moyes will still have the luxury of picking his team from a large pool of players.

In the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup, they face a trip to the Emirates to face Arsene Wenger and his Arsenal side, a team that have been a mixed bag this season.

So, with momentum firmly behind the claret and blue, Moyes will look to this side to bring a result back to Stratford…

GK: Joe Hart

Adrian has regained his place over the last few weeks, though Hart is likely to come back in for this game.

The Englishman needs a chance to impress. Another poor performance could all but end his time in contention for a regular starting berth at the London Stadium.

CB: Declan Rice

The youngster has enjoyed his breakthrough season for the club, as yet another product of England’s flourishing youth-system.

Having featured 6 times already this season, it looks like he is set to earn even more valuable game-time with a fast-paced Arsenal attack set to test the starlet.

CB: Winston Reid

The New Zealand born central-defender will play a key part in the gaffer’s time in charge, with his experience and defensive solidity playing a vital part in the side’s success.

Against a dangerous Arsenal attack, the defender will need to be at his best to keep them at bay.

CB: Angelo Ogbonna

The Italian powerhouse has been sublime in his time in the English capital, as he looks to make use of his strength and aerial dominance in a game that sees him take no prisoners.

As a regular in the heart of the defence, a fine performance from the defender could see the Hammers stroll to a fourth-successive clean-sheet.

RWB: Pablo Zabaleta

After making the switch from Manchester City, the Argentine has been pretty good in the wing-back position, with his attacking and defensive duties being perfected with ease.

All of his experience will be required against a team that have an impressive record in the domestic cup competitions.

LWB: Arthur Masuaku

After a shaky start to his West Ham career, he’s begun to make a name for himself, with some world-class performances creating a buzz among the Hammers fans here in the Tavern.

His electrifying pace leaves attackers in his wake as they struggle to get the better of the wing-back.

CM: Pedro Obiang

Defensive-minded Pedro Obiang has earned plaudits from neutrals this season for his ability to provide defensive, and attacking performances at the highest level.

With the opposition being so dangerous through the middle of the park, his intercepting abilities will be required in order to bring any onrushing Arsenal attacks to a halt.

CM: Mark Noble

Mark Noble is said to be a doubt for the game, but having yet to be ruled out, the Hammers in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for him to play.

They’ll his passion, fire and determination if they are to get through to the next stage.

He’s re-found his form in recent weeks.

However, if he’s not fit, perhaps someone like Moses Makasi or Sead Haksabanovic could come in for a rare appearance, should Moyes choose to risk them.

CAM: Manuel Lanzini

As one of the Premier League’s most skilful individuals, he’s been the cause of many problems, whilst goals and assists earn this man regular praise for the club.

For a player that’s one of the Hammers crucial attacking outlets, he’ll need to bring his A-game to the Emirates.

This is all hypothetical, of course, as it remains to be seen whether the Argentine will contest a recent FA charge for simulation. If found guilty, he’ll be unavailable for this one.

CAM: Andre Ayew

Andre Ayew has been influential in the sides cup run so far, with his attacking prowess proving crucial in the team’s success in the final third.

After netting 2 goals in their 3-2 win over Tottenham in the last round, there’s surely no doubt he’ll receive a place in the side.

ST: Javier Hernandez

Although he’s struggled to find his feet on his return to the Premier League, the Mexican has always had that magic touch, and the ability to produce something out of nothing.

With the heavy load that’s been placed on Michail Antonio in recent games, a well-earned rest could see the former Manchester United man take his place at the pinnacle of the attack.
