3 ambitious January signings Man City should make to ensure a title win

Manchester City suffered a crushing 3-1 home defeat to Chelsea this weekend and their supporters here in the Transfer Tavern aren’t happy about it in the slightest!

The Citizens were hoping to get a win over the Blues to leapfrog them at the top of the table but it wasn’t to be in a bad-tempered and feisty affair.

But with the defeat comes the chance to reflect on what actually happened during the game and there was genuine feeling that at times, City lacked a little bit of depth.

If they are to keep pace with the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool for the duration of the season, a few additions in January certainly wouldn’t go amiss.

But, who should Pep Guardiola be bringing in?

It’s a question that’s got our landlord thinking and so, with that in mind, here’s 3 ambitious January signings Man City should make to ensure a title win…

Ricardo Rodriguez

Rodriguez

At 24-years-old, Wolfsburg left-back Ricardo Rodriguez has already been one of the best defenders we’ve seen in the Bundesliga over the years.

The Swiss international has certainly made an impression on fans all over the world and his ability to defend and take set-pieces has made him one of the best around.

With doubts being cast over the longevity of Aleksandar Kolarov and Gael Clichy’s City careers, Rodriguez certainly wouldn’t be a bad shout in the slightest.

Ante Coric

One of the best young Croatians in the game, Ante Coric is certainly a man who City should be keeping an eye on going forward.

He’s a 19-year-old midfielder who ghosts past defenders and when it comes to potential, look no further than him.

He made the Croatian national team squad for EURO 2016 and for the sake of the future, he’d be a great player to have in the squad.

Toni Kroos

Yaya Toure might be back in the first-team but a man that would certainly improve the midfield ranks at the Etihad is Toni Kroos.

The Real Madrid star plays second fiddle to Luka Modric in the midfield for the Spanish giants, though, and so he should certainly consider a move to City, if the opportunity arises.

His passing skills are excellent and he’d be a huge part of any City team pushing for the title.
