Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern are desperate to see that this season is not another false dawn for their club.
The local Gunners are getting pretty miffed with seeing their club threaten to win the league and then end up falling well short and once again, so far, that’s what looks like is going to happen this time around.
The club started this season well but some poor form over the last few weeks has seen them lose ground to Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs in the title race.
Even so, they can still get back into contention with a good run of form and plenty of their squad will be determined to be a part of that.
However, our landlord reckons not all the players in the squad should stick around to see that happen and so, with that in mind, here are three players that would be better off leaving…
David Ospina
Our landlord has had his opinion changed about Ospina this season and thinks he is actually a decent ‘keeper.
It’s for that reason, then, that he thinks the Arsenal number 2 should look for a move elsewhere as he could be the first choice for a club at a pretty decent level. The life of a second string stopper is never a fun one and Ospina needs to make as much use as he can of his talents.
Carl Jenkinson
Jenkinson had promised much but it really does look like he’s not going to cut it at the very highest levels of the game.
For Arsenal he is well behind Hector Bellerin in terms of quality and that means he’s never going to be first choice. He could still make it in the Premier League, though, and so a move away to another top division side is a definite possibility that should be explored.
Mohamed Elneny
Elneny is behind Francis Coquelin, Granit Xhaka and Santi Cazorla for the deep-lying midfielder roles and isn’t good enough to get himself up that pecking order.
He’s a very limited player in terms of quality looking forward and so in that sense he only offers defensive attributes. Those aren’t very good either, though, compared to other Premier League players and so he should be looking for a move away soon.
