The January transfer window may seem a fair way off right now but here in the Transfer Tavern we’re already looking forward to seeing what potential blockbuster moves we could see happen.
Certainly, we were spoiled for choice in the summer as all the clubs in the Premier League spent big money with the new TV deal coming into play.
We saw Manchester United famously sign Paul Pogba, whilst Arsenal forked out for Granit Xhaka and Liverpool signed Southampton winger Sadio Mane.
Tottenham bought Victor Wanyama and Moussa Sissoko whilst Chelsea signed N’golo Kante from Leicester City.
The champions were busy too as Islam Slimani came in amongst others whilst Everton got new faces in too.
The list really does go on and that’s what brings us to Manchester City. They were one of the most active clubs in the summer and our landlord reckons they’ll do the same in January and should target three Brazilians…
Marquinhos

Whilst Manchester City have John Stones pretty nailed on in one position at centre-half, they do not have the same for the role alongside him.
Vincent Kompany, we hear you cry, but how likely is he to play? Not in the sense that Pep won’t rate him – but in terms of fitness.
If he can’t get fit and stay fit – Guardiola has to look elsewhere and Marquinhos would be perfect.
Casemiro

The Brazilian holding player has to try and force his way ahead of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric and despite being able to play sometimes when Real Madrid rotate their squad, he’s never going to be first team.
He should instead then decide to move on and he’d certainly be a welcome addition to add balance to City’s midfield.
City lack a defensive player of his ilk – our landlord thinks he would be perfect.
Anderson Talisca

Someone who you’d say is a little less well known than Neymar is this chap.
Nevertheless, Talisca is still a decent player and at the age of 22 he has a lot to learn. He’s played for Benfica and is currently on loan to Besiktas and if Pep Guardiola feels he can improve him it would make sense.
He wouldn’t cost an arm and a leg whilst offering City another good option.
