A 4-0 hammering at the hands of Everton last week highlighted all the squad’s flaws fully, and manager Pep Guardiola has a lot of work to do to turn things around.
A lot of the talk over at the pool table here in the Tavern has been about City’s ageing squad and who Guardiola might look to bring in to secure the future of the club.
Gabriel Jesus finally arrived this week, and he could get a start this weekend then they take on Spurs at the Etihad.
However, it’s not always the big name signings you need in football, and Guardiola could be wise to look into the lower leagues here in England and try and unearth the next Dele Alli type talent.

Jacob Murphy
Norwich winger Murphy has been extremely good this term already, and has caught the eye of many onlookers with his exciting performances.
The twin brother of Josh, both the Murphy twins have impressed, but it is Jacob who has delivered the more standout performances in his short career thus far.
He would flourish under Guardiola, and would certainly relish the chance to move up the leagues.
Aaron Ramsdale
The goalkeeping situation at the Etihad has been well documented this season, and young Sheffield United stopper Ramsdale is an exciting talent in the sticks.
Ramsdale has already dislodged George Long in the Sheffield United squad, and he looks to have a bright future.
A move to City would be too good for him to turn down though no doubt.
Will Hughes
Derby midfielder Hughes seems to have been around forever, but he is still only 21 and is every bit as good as his reputation implies.
Hughes is top quality in the middle of the park for the Rams, and he will sooner or later move to the Premier League.
City have the financial power to tempt him away from Derby, and he would be a sound long term investment.
