The last few years have not been very fun for the Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern…
Much has been made in the Tavern of Arsene Wenger’s inability to bring trophies to the Emirates – and whilst the FA Cup has been won; the Arsenal fans in the Tavern have been clamouring for more.
Arsenal used to be the team to beat in the Premier League, and the club would often be considered favourite for every major trophy in England – but that is no longer the case.
The biggest difference between the Arsenal of old and the modern day Arsenal is the calibre of player on offer. Arsene Wenger’s early years were characterised by young, exciting attacking talent – and much to the joy of the Arsenal fans in the Tavern; it would appear that Wenger is slowly transitioning back to that style.
There are a host of young Arsenal attackers that look set for stardom – and the Arsenal fans in the Tavern are beginning to get very excited.
With that said, here are 3 emerging Arsenal attacking talents to get fans excited…
Gedion Zelalem
Gedion Zelalem came to the attention of the Arsenal fans in the Tavern following a decent spell in Scotland last season.
He performed well in a season that saw him help Rangers to promotion. A playmaker by trade, Zelalem is able to play as a number 10 and slightly deeper – and he looks like a real talent.
His range of passing is his most impressive trait, given that he is able to pick out a seemingly invisible pass – much like team mate Mesut Ozil.
At just 19-years-old, his best years are certainly ahead of him – but a full season at professional level would have done him the world of good last year.
Jeff Reine-Adélaïde
Jeff Reine-Adélaïde is a high-profile member of Arsenal’s developmental system – and it is easy to see why.
The Frenchman has bags of talent, and has already appeared in the Gunners’ first team.
An exciting, intuitive attacking midfielder, he is able to glide past defenders with ease – making him a real nuisance for whoever is unfortunate enough to be marking him.
He is quite a flashy player, and that can sometimes get the better of him – but given his youth, he has years to learn and develop his game.
Alex Iwobi
It is slightly unfair to consider Iwobi a young talent, especially given how much exposure he has had in the first team – but at just 20-years-old – the world is at his feet.
He is getting a bit less football at present, due to the resurgence of some of Arsenal’s primary attackers – but the role he was given at the start of the season is a testament to how highly Arsene Wenger trusts Iwobi.
A tricky, hardworking pacey attacking midfielder – Iwobi was a real menace earlier in the season, and it is surely only a matter of time before he returns to the side.
He has a bright future.
