Here in the Transfer Tavern, the Manchester City corner of the pub is feeling pretty cheery after another epic Champions League win.
The Blue corner are buzzing after yet another dominant showing, this time seeing off Borussia Monchengladbach 4-0 at the Etihad on Wednesday evening.
Not even the weather could dampen the spirit of Guardiola and co, and it was another fantastic performance by one man in particular.
You’ve probably guessed but we’ve got our minds set on one man – Sergio Aguero. The Manchester City man is arguably showing some of the best form of his career and is definitely one of the best strikers in the world right now.
So as a celebration, we want to open the vault and see if there are any ex-Man City forwards that could give Sergio a run for his money.
With that said, here are 3 former strikers who Man City fans would love to partner Sergio Aguero
Uwe Rosler
It’s safe to say that Fleetwood Town manager Uwe Rosler was a real fan favourite at City during his playing days there back in the mid-nineties.
He formed a more than useful partnership with Paul Walsh, and the German was known for his ability to score wonder goals – with one such effort against Manchester United being particularly memorable.
We think this would be a partnership that would be a dream in modern-day football, you’d just need a time machine to make it happen.
Rodney Marsh
City smashed their transfer record to bring Rodney Marsh to Manchester in the early seventies, signing him from QPR. He struggled in his debut season but it was after the 1972/73 campaign that he really kicked on.
He was a real free-spirited individual, blessed with skill, pace and the ability to score goals. He dispatched 47 times in 152 games for the Citizens and was part of the side that reached the League Cup final in 1974.
We’d have love to have seen a player like Marsh playing up top with Aguero – it would too much to deal with.
Eric Brook
Another one you’d have to get a time machine made for if he was ever going to play with Aguero, Eric Brook remains Manchester City’s all-time record goalscorer.
His 178 goals keeps him top of the famed list and you can only begin to imagine the sort of partnership he and Aguero might have made if they were playing in the same era.
It’s tough to decide who is the better player, so we’ll leave that to you.
