While Arsenal have struggled to mount a serious title challenge in over a decade, their fans, the players and the stadium demand a squad capable of fighting on all fronts.
Arsenal’s trophy cabinet has been dusted in recent years, as a couple of FA Cups have been added and a space left for the league title in case they can go one better than last year.
This has all contributed to an increased transfer budget. The calibre of player the North London club can now attract is superior to just three seasons ago. This puts players like Walcott and Giroud at risk.
Herein lies the opportunity for Arsenal to kick on and attain the strikers necessary to see them over the line.

Portugal may have finally found the replacement for Pauletta in the shape of Porto’s latest hitman. He has been earning plenty of plaudits in the Primeira Liga, scoring nine goals. But it is his exploits on the international stage that have caught so much attention.
He became the youngest ever player to score a hat-trick for Portugal in their World Cup qualifier this autumn, and now has 17 goals in all competitions.
Apart from his goal-scoring exploits, Silva also possesses an eye for a pass that Wenger values so highly. He has notched up three assists this season, and is sure to improve on this figure before next May.

The Argentinian is an exceptional footballer, captain of Internazionale at 23, and a controversial character. Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are split almost down the middle on the prospect of him putting on their treasured red and white strip.
His antagonising behaviour, poor disciplinary record and shameful private life suggest that he might rub people players and coaches up the wrong way.
However, he won the Capocannoniere, awarded to the top scorer in Serie A, in the 2014-15 season, and has 59 goals in just 107 appearances for AC Milan’s famous rivals.
Arsenal were willing to take-on the flawed genius that is Luis Suarez, and with the current furore surrounding the 23-year-old Argentine, there is a chance Arsenal could pick him up for a relatively benign transfer fee.
