Chelsea fans here in the Tavern are struggling to come to terms with news of a possible Antonio Conte exit. 

Chelsea have certainly made better starts to a season, as this one sees them start sluggishly to produce a 4th place finish currently as they edge further away from leaders City. In what was the start of their title-defending season, it seems as if they’re somewhat still recovering from the celebrations of last year with a Premier League hangover. Indeed, the cure is still yet to be found, as an inconsistency in the Blues performances hasn’t served them well so far.

However, things are beginning to pick up for the Stamford Bridge faithful as they have managed to string a run of three wins together, as they look to build on being unbeaten in their last 3 games. Having progressed to the quarterfinals and taken up first position in their Champions League group, it’s beginning to look as if Chelsea could perhaps turn potential ruins into riches as they go on in search of a trophy.

Although the reason rise in form, there is still some kind of controversy surrounding the head of Antonio Conte. The Sun reported that the Blues are working to bring back Carlo Ancelotti in order to create the exit for the current Chelsea gaffer. Having led Chelsea to a Premier League title in his first season with the club, it makes the whole situation look a little harsh on the Italian. However, Ancelotti has done it all before with Chelsea, so there’s no reason why he can’t do it all over again.

So having heard the possible news of a departure, here are 3 players that could potentially thrive under Ancelotti…

Tiemoue Bakayoko

The French international made the move to the Bridge from the impressive Monaco as he looked to progress in his career. Having made 10 appearances for the side, the central midfielder been rather impressive as he steps in for the injured N’Golo Kante. However, when the former Leicester man is fit, Bakayoko finds himself being rotated in and out of the side due to the prowess and reliability of Kante.

But this is one man who we think will really thrive under Ancelotti. The Italian enjoys to play a high press style of game with the midfielders running ragged and tirelessly to win back possession, which suits the central midfielder very well as his game is based around a terrier-like approach to win back possession and cause pressure.

In fitting the Ancelotti style of play, this man would also more than likely be at the forefront of increased playing time, which would provide all sorts of positivity on his game as he is given the chance to really prosper.

Willian

Willian has always had that special talent to produce magic on any given day, but of late has struggled to produce this as he goes hiding. Having not seen fit to play Willian in recent times, Conte has opted to go with the experienced Spanish winger Pedro.

From what was such a successful season for the Brazilian last term, its beginning to look as if he’s struggling a bit with him seemingly becoming out of favour.

Ancelotti likes to let attacking players roam and, given a free role, Willian certainly could cause some havoc.

Alvaro Morata

Morata has been one of the stand out players for Chelsea so far this season, as the Spanish striker continues to score goals for the club.

Having made the move from Real Madrid in the summer, he brought with him a fantastic goalscoring record which is exactly what he’s reproduced so far for the Blues. Having scored 7 goals in 10 games, he really is coming to grips with the Premier League, but since returning from his injury he is yet to really return to the fine form as Batshuayi takes the limelight.

Ancelotti was a man who worked with the Spanish forward during his time in Madrid, before selling him to Juventus in 2014. In a recent report with The Daily Star the Italian mastermind spoke very highly of the striker, as he states “He is a fantastic striker and young too, Chelsea have made a good signing, a complete player”.

So having spoken so highly of the young man and coached him in his early years, it is inevitable that if Ancelotti is to get the job then he will do more than just thrive under the manager as it would be likely that the team would be structured around the prolific man.
