Jose Mourinho has come to Manchester United and brought in some of the most sought after star’s in world football. From Paul Pogba to Zlatan Ibrahimovic – United have turned their B+ team into the envy of all their friends here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
With good reason, much of the focus has been on who might be joining the club this summer – with Mourinho intent to improve every aspect of his first team squad.
One area that has received markedly less attention however is that of outgoing players – the men that are no longer required for Jose Mourinho.
With so much talent coming in this summer, there are a wealth of players that are simply no longer required at Old Trafford, and their futures need to be resolved by 11:30pm tomorrow night…
With that said, here are THREE players that Man Utd should sell before tomorrow’s 11:30pm deadline…
Marcus Rojo
Marcus Rojo has had a very disappointing spell at Manchester United.
He was brought in by Louis Van Gaal with high hopes here in the Football Transfer Tavern, but he has never really lived up to expectations.
He has made 38 league appearances during his spell thus far and has looked impressive in parts, but he is yet to solidify a spot in the United first team.
Injuries and off the field incidents have marred his United stint thus far, and his career is yet to really get started under Mourinho.
Rojo is yet to make an appearance this season – and our landlord thinks that that is unlikely to change
With just over 24 hours to go until the end of the transfer window – Mourinho must look to sell Rojo.
Matteo Darmian
Matteo Darmian has, for the most part, looked solid during his United stint – but for whatever reason it just hasn’t worked out for the Italian defender.
The right back spot has been a problem position for United in recent years, and after an impressive start to life at United, Darmian was expected to make it his own for years to come.
However, a slew of injuries and selection issues prevented him from becoming a regular under Louis Van Gaal – and that has continued into Mourinho’s reign.
The Portuguese boss simply does not fancy Darmian, with natural ring-winger Antonio Valencia often preferred instead.
With no starting role seemingly on the horizon at United – Darmian should be sold for a decent price.
Phil Jones
When Phil Jones was signed from Blackburn in 2011 he was the talk of the Tavern.
However, fast forward 5 years – and things are very different.
After initially impressing the United faithful, Jones began to suffer with form issues and is still yet to recover. Injury has played it’s part, but our landlord thinks that Jones is simply out of his depth at United.
He is yet to be selected under Mourinho, and it appears clear that he has no future in Manchester.
At just 24, there is still time for Jones to recover and rebuild his career – but that rebuilding process can simply not happen at United.
