Manchester United currently sit in fifth place in the Premier League and face a real fight on their hands to secure Champions League football for next season, much to the dismay of their supporters here in the Transfer Tavern.
The regular United punters to the bar are extremely disgruntled with boss Louis van Gaal’s negative football, with many calling for him to leave his position as the club’s manager.
The Dutch boss in seemingly linked with a new recruit every day in the press but having spent around £250 million already during his spell in charge of the club, it is likely he will need to offload some players first.
Here we take a look at THREE players who the Manchester United hierarchy should look to offload to allow van Gaal to add to his flailing squad…..

Marouane Fellaini

AC Milan have reportedly bid £15 million for this Manchester United flop, although it is reported that the club will only do business on a deal in the region of £24 million.
One United supporting punter here in the Tavern thinks the Belgian has been a waste of space since his arrival at Old Trafford, and asks the question of just what does he offer to the team?
The awkward midfielder is not a player in the stereotypical model of a Manchester United player and £15 million would represent fairly decent business for the club.
Should the Italian giants come back in for the player, United should be looking to do a deal.
Phil Jones

Whilst I do not doubt Jones’ ability as a central defender, question marks have to be raised on the England international’s fitness problems.
Jones rarely completes a full season and it remains to be seen just whether United will continue to persist with a player who is capable of picking up so many niggling injuries.
United could flog Jones to another Premier League club and probably get a decent sized fee for the player, and in the process use the funds to get themselves a resolute, world class defender, that they are desperately craving.
Antonio Valencia

The Ecuador international hasn’t performed badly for United at all, but he just doesn’t get used to the best of his ability under Louis van Gaal.
The Dutch manager would rather play Valencia at right-back where he can be vulnerable defensively, when really he is a better option when employed in a more attacking role.
Valencia would do a great job for another top half Premier League team and if United are not going to use him properly, they would be better to offload and sign players who do fit more naturally into van Gaal’s system.
One punter in the Tavern thinks that at 30-years-old it is time for United to get some money for Valencia and move him on to another club.
