Its the most painful time of the year for Gooners in the Transfer Tavern – The Transfer Window.
The North London have had an interesting window so far to say the least, signing Granit Xhaka before a failed pursuit of Jamie Vardy ended up with the rather more understated signing of Japanese striker, Takuma Asano.
The 21-year old isn’t exactly the star striker that Arsenal fans have been begging for but it seems as though Gooners have forgotten the gems that are already in the squad.
Mesut Ozil grabbed all the plaudits last season whilst he notched up 19 Premier League assists as Arsenal missed out on the title.
Arsene Wenger’s men fell ten points short of Leicester City after a run of horrendous performances in December and January.
Not so surprisingly considering Alexis Sanchez was out with an injury!
The 26-year old came back into the side and din’t quite look the same but this summer, he has climbed back to his best, as he was named player of the tournament at the Copa America.
While the latter part of the campaign was more frustrating, recent reports suggest dominant Italian champions are believed to be keen on luring the former Udinese ace back to Serie A this summer.
Though the last few months of the season were perhaps his most difficult in North London, the Chilean is undoubtedly one of the most important players in Arsene Wenger’s quest for an elusive fourth title.
So, here are THREE reasons why Arsenal MUST keep hold of Alexis Sanchez.
Flair
Every team needs their star man who can light up a game when they feel like it. Alexis can dribble past players with ease, score from miles out and create plenty of chances.
Ozil may be a world class player but he can’t compete with Alexis in terms of dribbling and scoring goals, Arsenal are only a real force when these two are on form.
Big Club Mentality
The Landlord at the Tavern feels for Arsenal fans right now.
However good Asano may turn out to be(or not be), he is not the Lewandowski type of player that Arsenal were hoping for.
The club clearly do have some of the best players on the planet in their side, such as Alexis himself, and they must keep hold of him if they want to sign any more.
Big names + big signings = trophies.
Passion
Alexis’s ankle was battered in the Copa America final but the 27-year old battled on. Arsenal don’t have many players with as much fight and passion as the potent forward.
He is so important to the side and can control any game whenever he wants. He ran rings around both Manchester clubs last year and scored vital goals against Leicester and Tottenham too. A
Arsenal surely are not a top 4 team without Alexis in the side.
