3 reasons why Celtic must do everything to keep hold of this star this month

Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic are storming to yet another title win and their supporters here in the Tavern are absolutely delighted with the progress being made this season!

In one of their more dominant title runs in recent years, the Bhoys have been rarely challenged by the likes of Rangers and Aberdeen and another run to the title looks very much on the cards indeed.

But talk in the Tavern in recent weeks has been surrounding the future of striker Moussa Dembele, who has been extremely hotly linked with a move away from the club this January.

Premier League outfits West Ham United and Spurs have both been credited with a big interest in the pacy striker, who has already dispatched a hefty 19 goals this season for the Bhoys.

But the former Fulham man is considered an extremely important part of future plans at Parkhead these days, and there’s genuine thought here in the pub that everything should be done to keep him on the books.

So with that in mind, here’s 3 reasons why Celtic must do everything to keep hold of the 20-year-old striker this January…

He’s got so much potential

We saw plenty of Moussa Dembele at Craven Cottage last season and he’s also come on leaps and bounds this season at Parkhead too.

The fact he’s scored almost forty goals in a season and a half speaks volume for his future potential and the humongous transfer fee he could command in just a couple of years time if he continues in the same stead.

Celtic should keep hold of him for a big potential transfer fee if nothing else.

His goalscoring is a massive asset to this side

Dembele has already scored 19 goals in what has been a long start to the season for Celtic and if he continues, he could easily reach forty strikes come May.

To say his goalscoring has been huge in this side is a massive understatement and without him, Brendan Rodgers’ side would not have such an easy run to the title this campaign.

He’s been the difference on a handful of occasions and his goalscoring ability is arguably the biggest reason Celtic should do everything to keep him at the club past January.

He could be the key to Champions League success

We see it time-and-time-again from Celtic- impressive league campaigns followed up by an real inability to do well on the biggest scale in Europe.

This season was no different, Celtic failed to get out of a tricky Champions League group and were pipped to the post for a Europa League place by German outfit Borussia Monchengladbach in the process.

Dembele gives this Bhoys side a real edge of quality in the forward line and in seasons to come, he could really prove to be the difference in the Champions League fixtures.

Celtic need to competing on the biggest stages once again and Dembele could certainly help them do that.
