Our Tottenham and Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern love getting one over on the other at any opportunity and the Spurs fans in particular, so far this season, have had more to say.
The Gunners started the season slowly losing to Liverpool on the opening day and the local Lilywhites were eager to chip in with roaring chants of ‘Wenger In.’
Naturally, this got their backs up, but after some return to form culminating in a convincing win away at Watford after a draw against the champions, they are only a point behind their great rivals.
Now, the Emirates faithful are relatively confident they will finish above Spurs once more and still be able to celebrate St. Totteringham’s day this season.
Still, could they arguably still learn a thing or two from their neighbours?

Striking Options
Another window has passed and the Gunners have once again not signed a proven world class forward.
Lucas Perez has come in from Deportivo and whilst he’s decent enough, it’s highly unlikely he’ll score the amount of goals you need to win a title.
The hope then rests with Olivier Giroud but he’s never consistently shown he can do it either so unless
Arsene Wenger is going to rip up his tactics and go two up front, which our landlord doubts a lot, they’re still behind Spurs and the ever-improving Harry Kane.
Trust in English talent
Last year Spurs showed that England can still produce top players, even if when they all get together at a tournament, they go to pieces.
Eric Dier, Dele Alli, Harry Kane, Danny Rose and Kyle Walker were all integral parts of their title challenge and will only get better.
Arsenal, meanwhile, haven’t given many English players a chance to shine or have been unfortunate with injuries but with a run of games players such as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could be successes.
Identify your weaknesses
This window saw Tottenham note what they needed to improve their team.
They needed another striker, so they got Vincent Janssen.
They needed more cover in the holding positions, so Victor Wanyama was drafted in.
Moussa Sissoko, expensive as he was, will give Pochettino a much-needed Plan B at long last.
This pragmatic way of improving their squad should surely be a lesson to their North London neighbours.
