It’s going to be a busy afternoon in the Premier League this weekend by all accounts and there’s a huge game going on at Goodison Park between Tottenham Hotspur and Everton.

For Everton, it’s the first time Ronald Koeman will lead out his side at Goodison Park in the Premier League and for Spurs it’s time to put things right after a shambolic end to the season.

And with things set to get seriously competitive, we’re going to be watching the game with keenness to see how each side gets on.

Everton looking similar to last season

Apart from Idrissa Gueye coming in from Aston Villa, Everton are yet to sign an outfield player this summer.

Whether that is a result of the managerial change or just an inability to bring in targets, Everton really do need to freshen up the squad as soon as possible.

An 11th placed-finish was good enough last year, but improvement is always welcome and we could see a very similar Everton XI to last season at this rate.

A Spurs side that has a lot to prove

As we said at the start of this article, Spurs have a lot to prove after their rather embarrassing capitulation at the end of the season last year.

Often the front runners for the entirety of last season, Pochettino’s side simply ran out of steam as the season finished, with Arsenal jumping into second ahead of them.

The supporters were left a little frustrated after their close rivals gazumped them at the last minute, so they’ve got a lot to prove this time out.

Harry Kane and Dele Alli picking up where they left off

Many are expecting Spurs’ dynamic duo of Harry Kane and Dele Alli to pick up where they left off, despite both having pretty mediocre Euro 2016 campaigns with England.

Both were so important to Spurs’ success last season and Pochettino will hope both can shine again as he aims to guide his side closer to the title this time round.

Harry Kane will get the goals whilst Dele Alli will anchor the midfield.
