8th place is still a decent position to be in, but Ronald Koeman undoubtedly wants to do better this year.
Unfortunately for him, his squad at present is, simply put, not good enough to achieve European status – and with the Dutch boss clearly very optimistic about his future; a few new signings are looking increasingly important.
With the January transfer window fast approaching, our landlord thinks that it could be a career defining month for the Dutchman.
With that said, 3 transfers Everton should look to tie up in the first week of January…
Morgan Schneiderlin
Morgan Schneiderlin is reportedly on the verge of a move to Everton, and so it looks like Koeman will be able to get this deal done sooner, rather than later.
The Dutch boss is familiar with the Frenchman, of course, from their time together at Southampton – and he will know exactly what Schneiderlin can bring to the Everton first team.
Offering defensive stability, pinpoint passing and expert ball-winning – Schneiderlin is the complete package in midfield, and he has been criminally underutilised at Old Trafford.
Callum Wilson
Like Schneiderlin, Callum Wilson is another player that Koeman has been linked with recently, though this deal might be more challenging.
The Toffees look set to rival West Ham for the attacker, with Bournemouth likely hesitant to sell.
Wilson is a proven Premier League goal scorer, and would provide Everton with some much needed attacking depth beyond Romelu Lukaku.
The deal will be a tough one, but for Koeman – it will be worth every penny.
Memphis Depay
Memphis Depay has not had the best time of it at Man Utd, and Koeman could look to give his Dutch compatriot another chance in the Premier League.
Everton have struggled for attacking depth this season, and with Ross Barkley struggling – Depay could offer Koeman an alternative in the heart of the attack.
There is definitely an incredible player in there, as displayed during his time with PSV – but a manager needs to give him the chance and the confidence to kick on. Koeman could be that manager.
