West Ham got their summer transfer window last year badly wrong and as we all witnessed here at the Transfer Tavern, their season has suffered as a result.

Slaven Bilic and the Hammers need to ensure that they get their business lined up efficiently before the summer window comes again, as another few months of scrambling around could have even greater repercussions.

Last time it seemed they panicked having missed out on a number of striking targets and wound up with Simone Zaza on-loan… and that didn’t really pan out.

If the Irons want to get themselves up the table next season and try to push for a Europa League spot, then they will have to get their recruitment just right and solve some of the problems they have.

With that in mind, these are THREE West Ham transfer priorities that Bilic simply must focus on this summer!

SIGN A RIGHT-BACK

West Ham have struggled at right-back this season.

They have Sam Byram but he’s had his injury issues and with bigger aspirations, they have to bring in an out and out right-back who can perform consistently.

They could look at Bacary Sagna, who has great experience in the Premier League, albeit he’d only be a short-term option.

SIGN A STRIKER

With the injury records of Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho, it’s obvious that the Hammers must look to sign a striker this summer.

With it looking likely that Jonathan Calleri’s loan won’t be extended as well it means that West Ham are very limited up top and they simply need to sign a striker with experience of scoring goals in the Premier League perhaps a returning face of Jermain Defoe could be welcomed at the club.

SORT GOALKEEPER SITUATION

It’s highly unlikely that Adrian will want to sit waiting on the bench next term.

Darren Randolph has been superb for the Hammers this season and has made some key saves to help his side rise up the table.

So Bilic must decide what he wants to do, sell Adrian and keep Randolph as No.1, keep Adrian unhappy on the bench or perhaps bring in a new main man and sell the Spaniard and keep Randolph for the cups.

Only Bilic can decide, and he has to do so quickly.
