Our Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are keen to see their side get back to winning ways this weekend after drawing to Liverpool last time out.

The Red Devils went into the crunch game last weekend as the favourites thanks to an impressive win streak in all competitions but in the end they only managed to get a draw at home to their fiercest rivals.

It could have been worse, too, had Zlatan Ibrahimovic not turned home a header in the closing minutes and in the end a point apiece was probably the fairest result.

Time to move on, then, and United are playing Stoke City this weekend who have a man in Peter Crouch eager to get 100th Premier League goal.

It could prove to be quite the close contest between two good sides then but our landlord believes that if the Red Devils go with this 4-2-3-1 they’ll surely take the three points from the game…

GK: David De Gea

The Spanish ‘keeper had a decent enough showing last time out against Liverpool and could have saved James Milner had the left back not hit it so well. He’ll start here.

RB: Antonio Valencia

Valencia is a proper right back now and has to be applauded for the work he has done to adapt. He’s strong and quick whilst his positioning is very good.

CB: Phil Jones

Jones has done a fine job this season since being asked to step in and deserves to start even when the United squad is fully fit. He’s rediscovered his talent.

CB: Marcos Rojo

To be fair to Rojo he is not a centre-back by trade and so he’s done a decent enough job. How he does against Peter Crouch this weekend really remains to be seen though.

LB: Matteo Darmian

We’re not sure whether Darmian is really good enough for United in the long term but with Luke Shaw still out he’s United’s only real option. Daley Blind seems all but forgotten by Mourinho.

CDM: Michael Carrick

For the first time in a while Carrick could not influence a game when he faced Liverpool last time out. United will be hoping the rest of their opposition this season don’t follow suit.

CDM: Ander Herrera

Ander is a very tenacious midfielder and will be looking to mix it up with the Stoke central players. Our landlord wants more goals from him, though, to become a real star.

RAM: Henrikh Mkhitaryan

The Armenian had a quiet game last time out against Liverpool but did have one good chance to get himself a goal. Nevertheless, he’s improved greatly and looks well at home in this country now.

CAM: Paul Pogba

The French midfielder had a dire afternoon against the men from Merseyside and will be itching to bounce back. People were quick to jump on him after Sunday so he’ll need to prove them wrong here.

LAM: Juan Mata

We’d play Mata more often than Mourinho does. He’s got the craft and guile to unlock Stoke’s defence and deserves the nod after Anthony Martial’s average showing last time.

ST: Zlatan Ibrahimovic

The big striker got himself another goal at the weekend as he rescued a point for United. His physical presence will easily see him be able to come up against Stoke’s solid back-line.
