The typically frantic festive period keeps on going at break neck speed as Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool welcome Stoke City to Anfield on Tuesday. 

While Chelsea lead the way in the Premier League title race, you get the feeling that the only thing capable of keeping up with Antonio Conte’s all-conquering side is the Reds’ wonderfully lethal attack.

The Potters have proved to be somewhat of a bogey team for the Kop titans in recent seasons, though it’s fair to say Mark Hughes’ side haven’t been at their best so far this season.

Recent weeks have shown some frailty within Klopp’s ranks, though his carefully crafted side are capable of smashing just about anyone when everything clicks.

There’s little doubt the continued absence of Philippe Coutinho is a major blow to the German in his attempts to land a first Premier League title, though Liverpool at their best truly are a sight to behold.

With that in mind, here’s the XI Klopp should field to beat Stoke.

GK: Simon Mignolet

Much has been made about Liverpool’s goalkeeping options recently, with Loris Karius dropped after a series of relatively shaky performances.

Simon Mignolet may not be perfect, though the Belgian’s experience should be handy against Stoke.

RB: Nathaniel Clyne

Absolutely crucial to Klopp’s dynamic style of play, Nathaniel Clyne is vital in both an attacking and defensive sense.

Rarely puts a foot wrong.

CB: Joel Matip

While Liverpool’s backline is barely the most stoic, it’s scary where to think they’d be without the classy presence of Joel Matip.

Pinning this defence together is far more than a one-man job, though the Cameroon international does his best.

CB: Dejan Lovren

Another player never likely to look truly unstoppable, but Dejan Lovren is looking a lot better of late.

Still has some way to go in proving why he cost so much money, though the Croat has improved in recent months.

LB: James Milner

Quietly going about his business at left-back, the entirely dependable James Milner’s move into that berth is looking like an inspired decision.

CM: Jordan Henderson

One of the most crucial keys in the cog for the Reds, skipper Jordan Henderson’s importance to the side is monumental.

Has the legs to get all over the pitch, even if he isn’t the most naturally gifted holding midfielder.

CM: Adam Lallana

Klopp’s regime has turned Adam Lallana into a fancy 60-minute player into an absolute machine in the middle of the park, picking up spaces created when the team stretches.

Adding goals to his game, the England international is a special talent.

CM: Georginio Wijnaldum

Still has some way to go to prove he’s worth the £25m Liverpool splashed out on him in the summer, though the Dutchman’s good work in midfield often goes unnoticed.

RW: Sadio Mane

Eyebrows were raised when Liverpool spent so big on Sadio Mane, though he’s proved pretty everyone wrong during his career on Merseyside so far.

A wonderful out ball and lethal in front of goal.

ST: Divock Origi

Stretches the defence to allow some of the better technicians time and space on the ball, Divock Origi looks like a perfect central striking option for a Klopp team.

LW: Roberto Firmino

Having shaken off some of the blues that plagued his early career in red, Roberto Firmino is simply excellent in drifting across the frontline.
