Surely Manchester United are going to win a game soon?

It’s been a completely astounding recent run of results for our resident Red Devils here in the Transfer Tavern who simply cannot believe they’ve not won more in the league in the last few fixtures.

It was the same old story again last weekend as they conceded a last minute penalty at Everton to draw 1-1 when they looked pretty nailed on for the three points.

Jose Mourinho’s men have looked better in terms of performance over the last few games but that ability to get the win has left them wanting and now it does appear their title hopes are over.

Nevertheless, they’ll be looking to reach the top four this season and that could all start with a big game against Spurs this weekend.

Win that and they’ll be feeling confident and our landlord is backing them to take the victory with this particular line-up…

 GK: David De Gea

The Spaniard couldn’t do much about Leighton Baines’ penalty last weekend.

Even if he was at fault, though, he’d still be starting for this one.

 RB: Antonio Valencia

Valencia’s looking pretty unchallenged for the right back spot at the moment and should start here.

Mourinho may want to get some competition for him soon, though, to avoid complacency.

 CB: Phil Jones

Jones is enjoying a good run in the side thanks to injuries to the other centre-halves.

And, to be fair to him, he’s making a pretty decent go of staying in the team once Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling return.

 CB: Marcos Rojo

The Argentine might be less likely to stay in the squad much longer and this could be his last start for some time. He’ll want to go out on a high, then, but you can bet Harry Kane is already looking forward to facing him.

 LB: Daley Blind

It’s a toss-up between Darmian and Blind for the left back spot at the moment but our landlord reckons it should be the Dutchman that gets the nod. He’s more reliable and that’s what you need in these big games.

 CDM: Michael Carrick

It’s going to be interesting to see how Carrick deals with Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama in Spurs’ midfield but you wouldn’t bet against him passing round them. The Englishman has to play for his sheer ability to control football matches.

 CDM: Ander Herrera

The Spaniard has forced himself into the team and is now a vital cog in United’s machine. He wins the ball back better than any other of their players and will need to be at his combative best for this one as well as be brave in possession.

 RAM: Juan Mata

Mata has been out of the side recently but there’s one thing you get with him – he performs in the big games. Whilst there’s still lingering doubts over Anthony Martial and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, the Spaniard should come in because you know he’ll do something special against Spurs.

 CAM: Paul Pogba

Pogba has found his position and that’s in behind the striker at United. He looks much more confident and settled without having to track back whilst the team as a whole certainly look more balanced.

 LAM: Marcus Rashford

Rashford’s been out of the side recently for a bit of a breather and should now be ready to come back in. United need someone to peg Kyle Walker back and the rapid youngster should be their best option to do that down the left.

 ST: Zlatan Ibrahimovic

One thing remains constant even with United drawing instead of winning – this man scoring goals. Another strike against Everton edged him nearer the top of the goal-scorers list this season and he’ll be looking for more against Spurs.
