4-2-3-1: The potential Man Utd XI come February 1st if transfer rumours are to be believed

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting a few big deals over the coming weeks…

Whilst Man Utd have been impressing over the last few weeks, it is clear that Jose Mourinho is far away from getting his dream squad at Old Trafford.

Morgan Schneiderlin has already left the club, and with several more likely to depart before the end of the month – it is all change at Old Trafford.

Deals will likely not be limited to just outgoing players, though, with Mourinho likely keen to expand the depth and quality within his first team squad.

A number of players have been linked with the club, but who could actually join? The Man Utd defence and midfield could do with a bit of an upgrade, and so our landlord is expecting a few players to come in in those roles.

With that said, is this the potential Man Utd XI come February 1st if transfer rumours are to be believed?

GK – David De Gea

David De Gea is a vital part of the Man Utd first team, and Jose Mourinho cannot afford to part with him.

Mourinho needs to make sure that his long-term future is secured.

LB – Benjamin Mendy

According to Tutto Mercato Web, Man Utd are keen on French defender Benjamin Mendy – which would likely mean a departure from the first team for Luke Shaw.

An attacking full-back, Mendy would need a bit of work defensively – but going forward he would be unstoppable.

CB – Kostas Manolas

Jose Mourinho’s need for defensive depth is clear, with the likes of Rojo and Smalling simply not good enough as long-term solutions for the Portuguese boss.

The Sun are reporting that Kostas Manolas is a target for the Red Devils, and you would imagine that he will come straight into the side should that happen.

Powerful in the air and strong with the ball at his feet, he is the perfect central defender.

CB – Eric Bailly

Eric Bailly has struggled with injury this season, but he will surely be a star in the Premier League long-term.

He looked good in his opening few months in England.

RB – Antonio Valencia

Fresh off the back of a new deal, Antonio Valencia has been like a new signing for Man Utd this season.

He has looked impressive as a right-back, and he will continue to go from strength to strength.

 DM – Michael Carrick

Adding a bit of experience to the midfield, Michael Carrick has been a key part of the Man Utd first team this season.

He adds composure and long-range passing for Man Utd, and he will keep his place.

 DM – Tiemoue Bakayoko

According to the Daily Star, Man Utd are keen on Tiemoue Bakayoko – with the defensive midfielder likely able to form a deadly duo alongside Michael Carrick in the heart of the midfield.

They will complement each other fantastically, with Bakayoko providing youthful energy and Carrick providing experienced composure.

 LW – Anthony Martial

Anthony Martial is one of the Premier League’s deadliest forwards, and Jose Mourinho needs to ensure that he is managed well.

He looked very good in his debut season, though has slowed down this year. He needs to pick it back up.

 CAM – Paul Pogba

Paul Pogba has flourished in a more advanced role this season, but he needs to start repaying his transfer fee.

He has had enough time to settle in, and needs to produce results.

 RW – Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Henrikh Mkhitaryan had a slow start to life in Manchester, but he has really kicked on lately.

He is only going to get better.

 ST – Zlatan Ibrahimovic

He might be getting on, but Zlatan Ibrahimovic is showing no sign of slowing down.

The Swedish forward has been prolific this season.
