Manchester United fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern have been delighted with their side’s start to the Premier League.
Jose Mourinho’s men have been unstoppable so far, winning both of their opening games with very little trouble.
Their new signings have all settled in well, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic in particular taking to the Premier League like a fish to water.
They face a staunch test this weekend, with a trip to Hull – who thus far have defied expectations and remain undefeated in the league – despite not having a manager.
It definitely won’t be an easy weekend for the Red Devils, and the Portuguese boss needs to ensure that he picks a team capable of performing.
On paper, there’s little doubt the Manchester giants will be favourites. However, the nature of the Tigers’ start to the campaign suggests the meeting on Humberside is no forgone conclusion.
Considering this, our Landlord thinks that this 4-2-3-1 Man Untied team will beat Hull on Saturday…
GK – David De Gea
Who else?
David De Gea has been stellar in recent years, and it looks like he is only going to get better.
A fantasy football favourite here in the Football Transfer Tavern – expect him to pop up with a few HUGE saves this weekend.
RB – Antonio Valencia
Jose Mourinho seemingly doesn’t fancy Matteo Darmian, so Antonio Valencia seems likely to retain his place on the right-hand side of the Manchester United defence.
Though not a natural full-back, the Ecuadorian has been in good form in the position.
CB – Eric Bailly
Eric Bailly has made an excellent start to life as a Red Devil, and our landlord thinks he is only going to get better.
He was plucked seemingly out nowhere by the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’, and he now looks set to lead the United defence for years to come – starting this weekend against Hull.
CB – Daley Blind
Most of the United fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern expected Daley Blind to follow Louis Van Gaal out of the club this summer, but the Dutch defender has actually undergone somewhat of a resurgence under his new boss.
He has cemented his place in the heart of the United defence, and whilst Mourinho may look to sign new players over the next week – they will have a battle on their hands to displace Blind.
LB – Luke Shaw
Luke Shaw has been absolutely unstoppable since he returned from injury, and there is nobody else in the Premier League that comes even close to him.
He will lead the left-hand side of the Man United back line for years to come.
CM – Marouane Fellaini
Marouane Fellaini was another player that was expected to leave the club following the arrival of Jose Mourinho; but like Daley Blind he has excelled under the pressure.
The arrival of Paul Pogba was thought to spell the end for the Belgian midfielder, though the Frenchman’s seismic signing has merely provided him with a new midfield partner.
Players like Ander Herrera, Morgan Schneiderlin and Michael Carrick can’t get close to the first team when Fellaini is playing this well!
CM – Paul Pogba
The talisman of this team.
He made his debut last weekend and looked impressive, and you would expect him to get better as time goes on.
The United faithful here in the Tavern love him already.
RAM – Henrikh Mkhitaryan
Henrikh Mkhitaryan hasn’t had much of a look in from the start so far this season, remaining an unknown quantity to those in the Tavern.
The Armenian looked strong in pre-season, and his fitness will surely be up by now.
Expect a big debut.
CAM – Wayne Rooney
The divisive Manchester United captain continues to divide the fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
His performances in recent weeks have improved, but he is still not at the level that is expected of a player of his calibre.
Expect Mourinho to persevere with his captain.
LAM – Juan Mata
Another player that was expected to leave this summer, but has forced his way into the United XI – Juan Mata is destined for a start this weekend.
He has been so good that Jose Mourinho simply has not been able to ignore him and it would take a brave punter to bet against him coming through with another big performance.
ST – Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been unstoppable since joining United, bagging a few goals already.
He could be the difference between a European place and a title challenge this season and will surely be handed a chance to further his goalscoring feats this weekend.
