West Bromwich Albion have had a so-so start to the new Premier League campaign, and after just seven games they sit a pretty respectable ninth in the table.

Their fans here in the Tavern are feeling optimistic about the season ahead but with bigger tests ahead, the Baggies will need to step up their game if they are to achieve a top-ten finish.

And they’ll really have to step up their game on Saturday as they welcome Spurs to the Hawthorns, in a game that will be their biggest test of the campaign so far.

Spurs are flying and they’ll be in high confidence after that 2-0 win over Manchester City before the international break.

Even the landlord in here is tipping a Tottenham win but we’ve got that feeling there could be an upset in the air.

So with that in mind, how should Tony Pulis set-up in the game against Pochettino’s side?

Here’s our West Brom XI that we think could bring home the goods this Saturday…

GK: Ben Foster

Former Birmingham man Ben Foster has had a pretty solid start to the campaign and he’ll be West Brom’s number one for the rest of the campaign, barring any injuries or severe lack of form.

Has developed tenfold from his St Andrews days and if he can stay solid between the sticks, he can be a big part of any West Brom success this season.

RB: Craig Dawson

Former Rochdale man Craig Dawson has become a pretty integral part of this current West Brom set-up, and he’s usually a name you’d expect to see on the team-sheet week-after-week.

Whilst he might not be the most attacking of full-backs, he supports attacks as and when and is solid as they come when the Baggies are on the back foot.

CB: Gareth McAuley

Northern Irish international Gareth McAuley has been a pretty immovable figure in this West Brom side for a couple of years now and he’s certainly a favourite under Tony Pulis.

Like Dawson, he’s solid, reads the game well and does have a yard of pace in his locker too.

CB: Jonny Evans

Former Manchester United man Jonny Evans is McAuley’s permanent defensive partner, and the two also feature pretty prominently in the North Irish line-up together too.

Olsson is nowhere near the first team due to his form, but he’ll have to be at his best to keep the likes of Heung Sin Mon quiet this weekend.

LB: Allan Nyom

A £4million summer signing from Watford, Allan Nyom might not be the most household of names in the Premier League but he’s been doing a good job for the Baggies in his tenure so far.

He’s an attacking full-back that enjoys getting forward and he’s frighteningly quick too.

CDM: Darren Fletcher

Hasn’t been at his assuring best yet this campaign but as always, he’s a player that brings plenty of balance to the West Brom midfield.

You know what you’re going to get with Fletcher- hard work, commitment and a player who can really move the ball in the middle of the park.

CDM: Claudio Yacob

Argentine midfielder Claudio Yacob has been a real mainstay in this West Brom team since moving from Argentina back in 2012.

He’s popular amongst supporters and he’ll have to be at his best if he wants to stop the likes of Dele Alli creating in the Spurs midfield this weekend.

RM: Matty Phillips

Former Blackpool midfielder Matty Phillips moved to the Hawthorns this summer and whilst he’s yet to hit the target just yet, the early signs have been promising.

He’s got lightning-quick pace, is direct and will be key if the Baggies are going to push for the top ten this season.

Has plenty to prove after a slow spell at QPR.

CAM: Nacer Chadli

Former Spurs man Nacer Chadli will be out to prove a point against his old side this weekend and he’s going into the game in good form too.

He’s scored three goals in the league already this campaign and he’s got a real ruthless streak when in form. If he can keep adding goals to his game then he could be their key man going forward this season.

LM: James McClean

Baggies winger James McClean has been with the Republic of Ireland during the international break, and he scored a crucial double to give his side victory over Moldova on Sunday.

It was an away win that will be massive as the group stages continue and he’ll hope to carry that form into the game against Spurs.

ST: Salomon Rondon

With Matty Phillips and James McClean on the wings these days, lone striker Salomon Rondon has plenty of firepower playing alongside him in the West Brom forward line.

The Baggies have been playing with width and pace and despite not dominating games, their forwards have always looked capable of causing defences problems and Rondon is no exception.

Rondon has lots to do as he often leads the line on his own but if he’s playing well, he could cause the Spurs defence some real difficulties.
