Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern have been pulling their hair out in recent days after seeing their side once again begin to falter.

After yet again getting their hopes up of winning the title this season their team have begun to show signs they are going to fall away again with two pretty poor performances in their last two games.

After going 1-0 up both times away at Everton and Manchester City they could not hold on and conspired to lose both 2-1 leaving them well adrift of Chelsea at the top of the league.

Of course, there’s still a very long time to go before the Gunners are truly out of contention but they need to buck their ideas up quickly for sure.

Our landlord agrees and reckons, then, that Arsene Wenger needs to play this line up against West Brom if they are to get back on the winning trail…

GK: Petr Cech

Cech isn’t really to blame for all of this.

He does his job as well as he always has and so will start again against the Baggies.

RB: Hector Bellerin

Bellerin is a very good right back but with that comes a potential problem for Arsenal.

Pretty much any side in the world would like to sign him and so if the Gunners don’t start winning trophies he could soon want out.

CB: Laurent Koscielny

Koscielny is Arsenal’s best centre half by some considerable distance so he will surely be thinking about what he could achieve if he left.

He’s had another decent season up until now and will need to stand firm against Salomon Rondon.

CB: Gabriel Paulista

Injuries to other players in this position have allowed Gabriel back in the side but he simply isn’t good enough.

Once again Arsenal’s squad depth is being called into question and isn’t offering good enough answers.

LB: Nacho Monreal

Speaking of not good enough Monreal certainly isn’t.

The Spaniard was terribly at fault for Raheem Sterling’s goal at the weekend and until the left back area is addressed the Gunners will always have problems defensively.

CDM: Francis Coquelin

Coquelin’s been decent enough and has certainly been better than Granit Xhaka.

He’s solid and reads the game well though Arsenal could do with a bit more forward thinking from him with their current injury issues.

CDM: Granit Xhaka

Xhaka is starting to look like a bit of a disappointment.

That may sound harsh and of course he has time to change it but he’s not really been the explosive, dynamic midfielder Arsenal felt they were getting. Definitely has more to do.

RAM: Theo Walcott

Walcott scored at the weekend against City but did not do much else thereafter and needs to stop that happening.

Many of the Arsenal attack goes missing in those games and now he needs to prove himself with the going getting tough.

CAM: Mesut Ozil

Speaking of men going missing.

Mesut Ozil will not be bonafide world class until he does it on the big stage and for Arsenal he goes missing too often. He’ll score against the Baggies, of course, but it’s in the big games he just doesn’t look at the races.

LAM: Alex Iwobi

The young winger is set to get a decent stint in the side and needs to make sure he takes advantage.

With Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain going off against City injured Iwobi needs to grasp this opportunity with both hands.

ST: Alexis Sanchez

What must he be thinking right now?

Sanchez is easily good enough to play for a league title winning side but might not get the chance to with Arsenal. Our landlord thinks he should be considering his options.
