With the drawn out managerial transfer of Ronald Koeman from Southampton to Everton finally completed, it seems inevitable that the Dutchman will settle in Merseyside.

With a new billionaire part owner, Koeman will likely have a huge transfer kitty from which to build his new side.

It is not just incomings that Koeman will be concerned with however; it is essential that the club make room for any players that do decide to join The Toffees.

The club has a number of talents, young and old, that are in demand elsewhere, or simply cannot get a place in the Everton team; and the club need to capitalise on their sales whilst they can.

Our landlord even predicts that there might be a big name or two that inevitably leave the club this summer.

Here are FOUR players that Ronald Koeman MUST sell on this summer to move Everton forward as a club….

Arouna Kone

Since joining the club in 2013, Kone has largely been disappointing.

After averaging roughly a goal every three games with Wigan, since joining Everton he has managed just 6 goals in 42 league games; a poor record.

The club have utilized the extra year clause on his contract, so despite his deal previously expiring this summer; he is now under contract until next summer.

With a number of Chinese teams reportedly interested; the club could potential still get a couple of million out of the striker.

Now at 32 years old, he certainly isn’t getting any better, so now is the time  to move the striker on.

 

Aiden McGeady

A player touted for big things when he joined the club, he has largely fallen short of the hype.

After joining the club in January of 2014, he failed to gain a regular spot in the first team before being completely frozen out of the squad last season.

He then was sent on loan to Sheffield Wednesday for the rest of the season, playing a bit more of an important role.

Now at 30 years old and with a number of clubs reportedly interested, now is the time for the club to cut their losses on the midfielder.

The Old Guard

At Everton there are a number of older players that, whilst they have all done a magnificent job at the club over the last few years, are simply now surplus to requirements at the cub.

By ‘The Old Guard’, we are referring to older players that largely don’t fit in the side anymore; players like Pienarr, Osman and Hibbert.

A number of the Old Guard have expiring contracts this summer, and it is essential that the club do not re sign them, and players like Pienarr could still demand a small fee.

Many have built a reputation and fans will be sad to see them go. But with Koeman coming in and the club looking to rebuild for the future; now is the time to let these legendary Evertonian’s hang up their boots.

John Stones

Controversial. One of the most drawn out transfer situations of the last few years; John Stones simply has to leave the club this summer.

This will disappoint a lot of Everton fans of course; Stones has the potential to become a world class player.

But with a number of huge European clubs interested, the club could likely demand a huge £35+ million fee, that would allow them to invest across the pitch.

By holding on to the player, they also run the risk of him having another bad season; at which point clubs will be second guessing their interest in the talented young defender.

Even if he does do well next year; it seems impossible for Everton to hold on to any world class talent for a long period of time; so it seems best to sell now for massive profit and look to the future.
