4 midfielders who realistically could join Arsenal in January

When you think about Arsenal in recent seasons and what they’ve been good at more than anyone else, it has to be the way they play football.

Yes, it has not always yielded the trophies the fans have wanted and our local Gunners fans here in the Transfer Tavern have certainly been ribbed for years for that – but you cannot take away the fact that they can outplay pretty much anyone.

A lot of that, of course, is down to the wealth of riches the club have available to them in midfield. It’s been a trait of Arsenal for many seasons that they have one of the best collections of central players around with Santi Cazorla and Mesut Ozil amongst others in their ranks, pulling the strings to great effect.

Our landlord believes, however, that the Gunners could do with bolstering it even further and thinks these four midfielders would be great acquisitions…

Marco Reus

This would get the whole of the Premier League and even most of Europe to sit up and take notice of Arsenal.

Reus has been through the good and bad times with Dortmund in his career and whilst it’s too early to write them off for a Bundesliga win this year, they certainly look up against it.

The German may fancy a new challenge, then, and Arsenal should make sure they can offer it.

Leandro Paredes

Paredes is one of the most exciting properties in Serie A this season and Arsenal could be the ones to profit from his emergence.

The Italian division is trying to re-establish itself after a few years in the wilderness but as long as Juventus keep dominating, a lot of the league’s best are going to want to move on.

This could be the case with the Roma man and Arsenal will certainly hope so.

Ademola Lookman

Unfortunately for our resident Charlton fans here by the bar, Ademola Lookman is not going to be with the club forever.

It’s a familiar story for the Addicks as another one of their bright prospects looks set to move on and Arsenal would likely be more than pleased to try and develop him further.

Wenger has a proven track record in making players great and that could be enough to sway the teenager.

Arda Turan

The Turkish international is a classy footballer and at times, for Atletico Madrid, he looked like a world beater.

It was that that got him a move to Barcelona a few years ago but since then – things have gone south in his career.

There can be no doubt over his talent, though, and so if Arsenal could get him to sign for them they could be about to unleash a very good footballer on the rest of the division.
