Celtic are reasserting their dominance at the top level in Scottish football and their fans here in the Tavern are absolutely loving it!
11 games into the campaign the Bhoys have won ten and drawn one as they aim to march to the SPL title come the end of May.
Even with arch-rivals Rangers back in the top division, Brendan Rodgers’ men continue to assert their dominance at the top level.
They’ve still got a chance of getting into the Europa League too, after a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Borussia Monchengladbach earlier this week.
So with everything seemingly hunky-dory at Celtic Park these days, we want to bring the tone down just a little bit as we open up the vault.
We’re talking flop signings – a subject everyone loves.
Whether you like it or not, every club has had them and through the years, Celtic have had their fair share too.
So with that in mind, here’s 4 players that seriously failed to make the grade at Celtic, do you agree?
Regi Blinker
You’ve got to feel slightly sorry for Regi Blinker, who will forever be known as the player who was swapped for Paulo Di Canio.
The Dutch international never really got going at Celtic Park and fans were always frustrated having let Di Canio go, who obviously went on to shine for West Ham United and Lazio.
Ian Wright
You may not remember Ian Wright’s one-year stint at Celtic Park but to say it was disastrous was an understatement.
He arrived with some serious pedigree but could never get going in what turned out to be a pretty poor season all-round for the Bhoys.
Three goals in the 1999/2000 campaign didn’t warrant a new deal and he left at the end of the season.
Du Wei
Du Wei’s loan spell at Celtic might be regarded as the club’s worst bit of transfer business in their modern-day history.
He was a man who was showing good form with Shanghai Shenhua at the time and he eventually joined Celtic on-loan in the 2005-2006 season.
He found first-team opportunities difficult to come by and after a shocking 2-1 cup defeat to minnows Clyde, he never played again and returned to China, where he has stayed since.
Mo Bangura
Became the first ever Sierra-Leonean to ever play for Celtic after signing for around £2.2million back in 2011.
He was recommended by former club legend Henrik Larsson but very quickly it seemed he wasn’t going to shine as much as some had tipped him to.
Injuries, poor form and a lack of confidence meant that when Bangura left three years later, he’d made just 16 appearances, scoring no goals whatsoever.
