There’s a feeling here in the Transfer Tavern, still, that Arsenal need another striker, crazy isn’t it?
Many felt the Gunners would at last sign a world class forward in the summer to really give their title challenge some gravitas, but instead Arsene Wenger took a punt on Deportivo’s Lucas Perez.
Perez had had a good season in La Liga last season and many were cautiously hopeful that he’d prove to be an inspired choice on behalf of their French boss, but instead he looks set to be the latest forward flop for the club.
The Gunners have decided to play Alexis Sanchez up front whilst Olivier Giroud is an option from the bench and whilst that isn’t terrible, it could have been so much better.
Our landlord agrees and thinks Wenger will surely get a striker in the January window to make a statement with these FOUR players surely the most ideal to bring to the club…
Alexandre Lacazette
It won’t go away until Lacazette either joins Arsenal, another big club in Europe or retires so why not just put everyone out of their misery Arsene and sign him up.
Lacazette would make Arsenal massive contenders for the title, even more so than they are now, with his running and lethal finishing whilst he can also play down the sides, too.
What’s not to like?
Alvaro Morata
Morata wants more game time and Arsenal need a new striker so surely this one ticks all the boxes?
At the start of the season the Spanish international would have thought he’d have played more for Real Madrid with them keeping him at the club, but instead he’s not seen anywhere near as many minutes he would have liked.
He could be sensational with a bit of confidence so Arsenal should act.
Mario Mandzukic
The big Croatian is another who has seen playing time limited this season. Juventus famously signed Gonzalo Higuain in the summer from Napoli, and the Argentine has been quick to show them that was the right move with a number of goals.
Mandzukic, though, has been knocked down the pecking order in Turin and could benefit from a move away, helping Arsenal in the process.
Jose Callejon
Callejon can play as a striker or a winger and would, because of that, fit nicely into Arsene Wenger’s plans.
The Spaniard is a very creative player with plenty of pace, too, so sounds like a typical Gunners star whilst his current club Napoli may be resigned to seeing him go.
The Naples side’s chances of winning the title seem to have gone with Higuain and that could spark a lot of departures.
