With the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern crying once again this morning over spilt milk, with their side throwing away a late lead against Chelsea yesterday, our landlord decided to brighten their spirits.
In the eyes of our punters, United dropping yet more points in their push to force their way into the top four of the Premier League is another black mark on what’s been a season to forget.
Fortunately for them, our landlord has pointed out that the dark cloud that’s currently situated over Old Trafford will not be staying there forever and he’s suggested that brighter days could be on the horizon.
When we quizzed him about these poetic comments, with concerns that someone had slipped something into his coffee, he explained that the Red Devils still have a wealth of young talent ready to bleed into the side.
It’s certainly improved the mood of our United-supporting locals in the bar, who have now started to discuss which five young players could develop into superstars at the club in the coming years.

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson
The young full-back made his Manchester United debut back in November and the injury crisis that’s plagued Louis Van Gaal’s back-line has seen the young talent called upon fairly regularly.
CBJ, as we’ll refer to him to save our fingers some exercise, has been a star in the past week and caught the eye in the recent victory over Stoke City. There, he provided a pinpoint cross to secure an assist and he was at it again against Chelsea in the latest round of fixtures, though this time the final product couldn’t be provided.
Luke Shaw’s inevitable return will cause CBJ some problems, as the £30m acquisition will surely be United’s first-choice, but the young defender is destined for a bright future nonetheless.
Callum Gribbin
The most talented youngster Manchester United currently possess within their youth ranks, Callum Gribbin caught some attention last season as video of him nutmegging two players in an U18 match went viral.
Those sort of performances led to the midfielder being a part of Louis Van Gaal’s squad for the pre-season tour of the United States, where the young players involved avoided the headlines thanks to the stories regarding Angel Di Maria’s exit and Victor Valdes fall-out with the Dutch boss.
Gribbin has caught the limelight for the wrong reasons at times though, particularly when he took to Twitter to vent frustrations about being benched for an U18 match, but a four-year deal penned since suggested his rise will only continue.
Timothy Fosu-Mensah
Snatched from the highly-ranted youth ranks of Ajax last summer, Fosu-Mensah has impressed in the early stages of his Manchester United tenure and has looked to force his way into the U21 side.
A bulky and strong player who’s capable of playing at the heart of defence or in midfield, Fosu-Mensah has shown leadership qualities to further suggest he’s destined for great things at Old Trafford.
Signed to a three-year deal earlier this season, many are tipping this young talent to be one of the next to break their way into the first-ream picture.
Demetri Mitchell
The England youth prospect is rated extremely highly at Manchester United, having drawn comparisons with legendary Red Devils winger Ryan Giggs- who spent 24 years as a player at Old Trafford.
Whilst those comparisons are premature, Mitchell has already impressed with the U21 side as he possesses fast feet and an eye for goal. With speed and the gritty approach a player needs to succeed in the modern game, Mitchell is definitely one to keep your eyes on.
With the likes of Memphis Depay and Lingard ahead of him, the most likely and suitable move for Mitchell is a spell on-loan elsewhere to get first-team experience. From there, his career could really take off.
Axel Tuanzebe
Aside from having arguably one of the best names in football, Axel Tuanzebe is highly-rated at Manchester United and has been at the club since the age of nine. Now a teenager, he’s already forced his way into the first-team picture.
He’s a player that caught the eye of Louis Van Gaal almost immediately and the next 12 months will be crucial for the player, who will be itching for his chance having seen his team-mates struggle to find form.
If United look to bleed more fresh talent, Tuanzebe can step up immediately and has all the qualities required to be a star at Old Trafford.
