Considered to be title favourites at the start of the campaign, Arsenal find themselves outside of the top spot with many matches left to be played.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Borussia Dortmund)
Despite Aubameyang saying he wouldn’t be coming to Arsenal, he should be the main target.
Aubameyang is leading the Bundesliga in goals and it looks like he can’t stop bagging goals for Dortmund.
Giroud has been quite exceptional in the Premier League with 12 goals in 23 appearances, but Aubameyang offers something different.
He has the pace to run past the defense while at the same time, hold up the ball to wait for the support to come.
Considering Giroud’s fitness issues, Aubameyang could be proven to be more consistent and excite Arsenal fans.
This signing would scream ambition and notify other Premier League clubs that Arsenal are back and will not be intimidated by any other club.
Isco (Real Madrid)
Whilst Arsenal have plenty of attacking options in the midfield, Isco would definitely elevate their midfield.
Since his arrival at the Bernabéu, Isco has been used sparingly and not been a featured member of the starting XI.
A move to London would immediately change that.
Mesut Özil has been world class since his move to Arsenal, which should give Isco and Arsenal supporters confidence that Isco would do the same.
With Santi Cazorla getting older and Jack Wilshere unable to stay fit, Isco would surely be in the starting XI.
A midfield containing Özil, Isco, and Sanchez would give nightmares to opposing managers and a huge smile on Wenger’s face.
Granit Xhaka (Borussia Mönchengladbach)
It is no surprise Arsenal want Xhaka.
The whole month of January has been focused on whether Arsenal will be unveiling the defensive midfielder or not.
While having Xhaka on this list is nothing original, he would truly help out their midfield.
Mathieu Flamini and Mikel Arteta are not realistic options to partner up with Francis Coquelin.
Xhaka is still only 23, but he has proven in the Bundesliga and in the 2014 World Cup that he a star in the making.
His vision is phenomenal and has the knowledge to make the right moves.
With Liverpool hovering around Xhaka as well, Wenger needs to act quickly if he does want his desired target.
Gonzalo Higuaín (Napoli)
Arsenal messed up in 2013 when they wanted the Argentine.
Since his move to Italy, Higuaín has over 70 goals in all competitions for the club.
Those are goals that Arsenal could have desperately needed in their competitions.
Although Aubameyang should be Arsenal’s main target, Higuaín would be a fantastic Plan B.
Our locals at the Tavern have argued whether Higuaín and Giroud are necessary at the same time.
While Giroud has been productive on the field, the main question is can he stay on the field.
Higuaín has been able to and he has proven that no matter what league he plays in, he will be able to bag loads of goals.
This would be quite the addition to an already talented squad.
Aymeric Laporte (Athletic Bilbao)
Although we suggested Arsenal should buy established players, Laporte is a different case.
He became a regular in La Liga at the age of 20 and is one of the most sought after defenders in the world.
Playing against the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona should tell Wenger that he is ready for anyone.
Per Mertesacker is getting up there in age and Laurent Koscielny could be snatched up by any club.
Laporte offers Arsenal a centre back that will be one of the best.
If Arsenal can hold onto Koscielny, him and Laporte would create arguably the best defensive pairing not only in England but in the world. He could be a fantastic signing for Wenger.
