5 Man United transfer rumours that seriously could happen this window – Agreed?

Jose Mourinho only arrived at Manchester United a few days ago, but he is already surely drawing up a list of transfer targets for his new club to go for, and our resident United fans here in the Tavern are so excited!

After several disappointing years for Manchester United fans, Mourinho wants to rebuild the team in his image; a process that will begin this summer as he attempts to capture several new players.

Rumours in the Tavern have been rampant over the last few days about who these players might be, and as time has gone on, Mourinho’s targets seem to be getting clearer.

Here are a few of these rumours, which our Landlord thinks might just go ahead this summer if Jose has his way……

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

This one has been widely published over the last few days, as Zlatan looks to become Jose’s first signing at his new club.

Here at the Tavern, most United fans appear happy with this potential new signing, citing his experience and goal scoring record.

With Ibrahimovic you know what you’re getting; an experienced goal scorer with a proven record, having won the league in 9 out of 10 of his last seasons.

Our landlord thinks this one could be wrapped up in the next few days.

John Stones

Another player on United’s radar is John Stones.

This one definitely has some legs, given that whilst in charge of Chelsea, Mourinho put in a number of bids for the young English defender.

Given Mou’s desire to improve the Manchester sides back line; Stones would be a perfect fit.

If this deal is going to happen, there looks like no better time. After a rough season, Stone’s market value will never be lower; and now is the time for United to swoop in if Stones is the player they want.

Miralem Pjanic

Miralem Pjanic is another player that United are targeting, with Mourinho set to steal him from under the nose of his ex-club Chelsea.

The 26 year old Roma midfielder had reportedly been a Chelsea target, but now the Daily Mirror is reporting that Manchester United are in pole position to sign the midfielder.

Despite facing competition from across Europe, you wouldn’t bet against Mourinho being the man to convince the coveted Bosnian to come to Manchester.

This one looks like it might happen; Mourinho has reportedly made the midfielder his top target as he looks to bolster out his midfield options, and he would certainly fit in a Manchester United side that largely lacked his level of quality last season.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Another player that seems destined to end up at Old Trafford this summer is Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The Armenian midfielder has been a long-time target for Jose Mourinho, and his contractual situation makes it likely that he will leave Borussia Dortmund this summer.

There are reports that United have offered him a much higher wage than Dortmund could afford, and with his contract ending next season he is expected to leave this season in order to avoid leaving on a free.

This situation appears relatively clear; should Manchester United cough up the cash that they are reportedly willing to pay, he could well end up in Manchester this summer.

Gonzalo Higuain

Another striker on Mourinho’s wanted list is Gonzalo Higuain; another player that he showed interest in whilst at Chelsea.

The Argentine striker has been in electric form for Napoli, having scored 71 goals in just 104 appearances for the Italian outfit.

Napoli legend Jose Alberti has suggested that the club would be powerless to stand in the strikers way should he want to go to United; so it would appear as long as United can stump up the cash, Higuain could be theirs.

United also have Mourinho on their side, who enjoyed a good relationship with Higuain whilst together at Real Madrid.

Whilst a number of clubs are interested, it would appear that should United go in for the striker, he would be very interested in moving to Manchester.
