5 Manchester City transfer rumours that could actually happen

The punters here at the Transfer Tavern are scratching their heads at this one, as they are wondering how Manchester City could manage to strengthen their star-studded squad even further.

Of course, in order to be the very best, there is always room for improvement.

Since the Citizens were taken over by their Sheikh owners, they have built a fine squad over the years, one which soon won’t be far away from challenging in the Champions League.

Indeed, having secured their place in the last sixteen this week, City have really turned a corner having really struggled to make that stage in previous years.

However, with the likes of Bayern Munich and Manchester City looking as strong as ever, it would still be a big ask for them to go and win the competition this year.

As a huge club with lots of money, it is also inevitable that City will be constantly linked with the very best names around Europe.

Below are FIVE rumours that could happen, whether it was in January or in the Summer…..

Andrea Pirlo (loan)

Andrea Pirlo

Though Italian magician distanced himself from a loan move to Manchester City in the US League off-season this week, there is still plenty of time for minds to be changed.

Pirlo is currently at New York City, a club that are also owned by Manchester City’s owners.

Though Pirlo insists he will prepare properly for the next MLS season by not going on loan to Manchester, a chance to play in the Premier League could surely be something to good to pass up on.

Any move for the Italian, will, however, be a loan and a loan move only.

Paul Pogba

Paul Pogba juve

As Juventus continue to struggle and stutter, a move away for star man Pogba becomes more and more likely by the minute.

Indeed, with Juventus on the decline, it is likely that several clubs are going to be vying for his signature, with City no exception.

The former Manchester United player is considered to be one of the best centre midfielders in the world by the punters here in the Tavern, and whoever manages to secure his signature will be making a huge statement of intent to the world.

Grzegorz Krychowiak

Grzegorz Krychowiak

Should City ultimately lose out to the likes of Barcelona or Real Madrid to Pogba, the Citizens could still look to make a move for Poland and Sevilla midfielder Krychowiak.

City did the double over Krychowiak’s side in their Champions League group, but were clearly impressed with his display.

With Sevilla only able to go so far in La Liga and Europe, Krychowiak may seek a move to Manchester City for the chance to win titles and dominate in Europe further.

Angel Correa

City may also look to bolster their attacking options in the next couple of windows, with a move for £8million rated Angel Correa on the cards.

The Atletico forward is highly rated at the Calderon, with some people here in the Tavern considering him the next Sergio Aguero!

Unfortunately for them, their similarities may go to the point that Correa follows the same path of Aguero by making a move to the Etihad Stadium.

Ever Banega

Another Sevilla midfielder who has clearly impressed.

Banega may be another option in the centre of the park.

Whoever City decide to go for, it is abundantly clear that they may be preparing for life without Yaya Toure, who many was surprised to see stay this year.

City will therefore be looking for a player with both creativity and physicality to go alongside Fernandinho. Banega could certainly be another answer to this, and is likely to seriously consider a move to England.
