5 players who could follow Marco Verratti to Man United this summer

With rumours circulating around Old Trafford that Marco Verratti could be Jose Mourinho’s latest signing, our Red Devils punters in the Transfer Tavern are almost beside themselves with excitement!

The young midfielder is a real prospect and has established himself in PSG’s side as they once again secured the Ligue 1 title.

Verratti is a tenacious midfielder who, despite his somewhat smaller build, isn’t overawed by the battle in the middle of the pitch.

He’d be the ideal man for United as they look to inject a bit of movement in their midfield and could just be the beginning of the Mourinho era.

Eric Bailly has already signed for the club and it’s widely expected there’ll be more joining him as well as the possible acquisition of Verratti.

So who could be on their way to Old Trafford too? Our landlord here at the Transfer Tavern brings you FIVE possible signings……

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

It’s a matter of when than if now as to when Ibrahimovic joins United.

The Swedish striker has reportedly agreed terms with the club and will have a medical before becoming the striker the club need.

Aside from Marcus Rashford, United seem to be lacking an out-and-out striker, and they don’t come much better than the former Barcelona man, who seems set to grace the Premier League for the first time in his career.

Fabinho

Another player reportedly on Mourinho’s watchlist is Fabinho.

The Brazilian is predominantly a right back but can also play defensive midfield and got six goals and four assists in Ligue 1 for Monaco last year.

He’d be an improvement on what United have on the right side of defence as the Portuguese boss looks to build a team capable of making a sustained title challenge.

Willian

willianWillian was evidently a player that got on with Mourinho given his performances last season at Chelsea, despite all those around him seemingly downing tools.

The Brazilian would give United some much needed pace and directness in an attack that faltered for large periods of last year, and with rumours that a potential bid could be in the offing, we might just see the two reunited at Old Trafford.

Tahith Chong

Chong is a young striker who’s deal seems to be all done but confirmed.

The Feyenoord man has been seen celebrating his birthday recently with a Manchester United cake as well as reportedly posting on social media he is set to be a Manchester United player.

Mourinho seems to be diminishing the thoughts arround him that he’s not interested in youth too and United fans will be pleased to see this.

Paul Pogba

Pogba came through the club’s youth system before deciding to carry on his career at Juventus.

The Frenchman has certainly excelled in Turin becoming one of the main men in the Old Lady’s Serie A domination.

For United, Pogba is obviously one that got away but if they can try and attract him back to finish what he started the club would be getting one of the best in world football and The Sun thinks it could be on.
