5 potential summer arrivals at Arsenal to follow Mario Gotze if he joins

Its that time of the year again and Arsenal will be linked with every player on the face of the earth.

That said, Arsenal are closing in on a deal for Granit Xhaka, so perhaps Wenger and Kroenke’s stubborn approach is changing.

Amazingly, the North Londoners are linked with a move for German star Mario Gotze.

The 23-year-old scored the winning goal for the Germans in the 2014 World cup final, but has found it difficult to break into the Bayern Munich side this season.

If Gotze did move to the Emirates it would surely open the door for many others, Arsenal have a lot of cash to spend this year, so here are the FIVE key players Arsenal could sign to follow Gotze and Xhaka……

Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang

How many times can it be said? Arsenal need a striker.

Danny Welbeck is out for nine months and Olivier Giroud is hardly the striker to fire Arsenal to glory, especially after his 15 games goal-less streak.

Don’t even get me started on Yaya Sanogo, who’s loan at Charlton.

The Borussia Dortmund striker has scored an impressive 25 goals in 30 Bundesliga games, as well as 11 goals in 14 Europa league matches for the German club.

Raphael Varane

Varane

Who doesn’t want Raphael Varane?

The Frenchman is perhaps the most in-demand defender in world football.

Varane is kept out of the Real Madrid side by Pepe and Sergio Ramos but the Frenchman is far too good to be sitting on the bench.

At just 23 years old, Varane has tons of experience and has even scored in El Clasico.

With Mertesacker in his thirties, Arsenal need to look for a new centre back anyway and Varane could sharpen up the Arsenal defence that has leaked some shocking goals this season.

Lucas Perez

Lucas Perez99

The boys from Real, Barcelona and Atletico get all the plaudits but Lucas Perez has been a real star in La Liga this season.

The Spaniard has scored 17 goals as well as handing out 10 assists to his team-mates.

The 27- year-old would not be too expensive for Arsenal to sign, and given Arsenal’s injury history, Perez could be a great signing as either a starter or a back-up for Aubameyang.

William Carvalho

Carvalho

Its hard to remember a time where Arsenal weren’t linked with Carvalho.

The Portuguese midfielder has been a star in the Portuguese Liga for years now, and would certainly be a star for Arsenal.

Carvalho is strong and versatile and is exactly what Arsenal need.

The 24-year-old could even be the next Vieira at Arsenal.

Grzegorz Krychowiak

Krychowiak

Like Carvalho, Krychowiak has been linked with Arsenal for some time.

The Polish midfielder is a strong link in the Sevilla midfield.

Krychowiak will be hoping to win the Europa League with the Spanish club next Wednesday against Liverpool, so fans can get a glimpse of the 26-year-old very soon.

He would be costly, but certainly worth it considering the Arsenal midfield rarely put up a strong showing and take complete control of a game in a physical manner, which the star could certainly help to achieve.
