5 reasons Arsenal simply must keep faith with England star Oxlade-Chamberlain

Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are growing ever more frustrated at their teams transfer activity in recent times and Arsene Wenger’s primary concern will be strengthening the Arsenal squad this summer; he will also be contemplating which of his players to let go.

One of those players under debate is Oxlade-Chamberlain, who had another frustrating season with lack of first team opportunities and various injuries hindering much of his campaign. Some say his time at the Emirates is up.

However, it is easy to forget the talent he has; still only 22, he could still yet fulfil his potential in an Arsenal shirt. Many had predicted him as a future world class player, which could still be the case.

Here are FIVE reasons Arsenal MUST keep Chamberlain…

He is actually still young

He’s a player who has performed well for Arsenal over the years, albeit inconsistently; this is where some Arsenal fans are concerned. However, at only 22 still his best years are surely ahead of him and should be judged after a full season with a substantial amount of games.

Given the opportunity the England international could prove to be the solution to many of Arsene Wenger’s problems over the last few seasons.

There are two years left on his contract

With two years still left on his contract, it would make sense to give someone of Chamberlain’s ability another year to prove himself; cashing in on him at this stage would not be worth it.

He’s performed extremely well in the past, so why would he not be able to replicate such form if given the chance?

Selling to a rival could prove costly

If Arsenal were to offload the Ox, there would be no shortage of options for the winger. Top teams in England and Europe would be lining up to strike a deal with the Gunners, and if a move were to go through with another rival, this could prove costly for Arsenal in years to come.

He’s English

Top quality English players are becoming a rare commodity and with that having young English talent is becoming ever more important at the top English clubs.

He’s performed well for England since making his debut at the age of 18 and there is no doubting his talent; he has a future with national side, despite Arsenal being unsure on his services at this stage.

He’s a good player

A year of injuries and many have seem to forgotten the player he has been in the past. He’s got electric pace and strength for a wide player, also playing in central midfield for Arsenal on occasions. He would provide solid competition as he has done in the past and there is no reason why he couldn’t still be a regular starter in the future providing he avoids injury.

It’s a make or break year for the Ox. If there are still question marks over his name this time next year, selling him would become more justified. Until then, Arsenal should stick with him as he still a lot more to give in a red shirt.

Gunners fans, we want to hear from you! Do you think the Ox should be given another chance at the Emirates? Or is it time that he moved on? Let us know below…
