Tomorrow’s Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium is causing a lot of excitement here in the Transfer Tavern, as both sides aim to provide a massive boost to their ambitions this campaign.
Manchester United are considered the favourites for the tie after Arsenal’s shock Champions League defeat to Olympiakos, which has left Arsene Wenger and his side under an immense deal of pressure.
However, that may not be the case. Arsenal have a massive challenge ahead of them but they boast the required talent to overcome the Red Devils.

Alexis Sanchez
In tight games it can take a moment of sheer magic to change the tied- and Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez has the talent to do exactly that.
He is a match-winner for the Gunners and enters the game with four goals in the past week, including a hat-trick last weekend. The Chilean is back on form and keen to impress.
Against a weak United defeat Alexis can run riot at the Emirates and he will be a big factor in the game.
Arsenal are proven
This time last year the concerns were that Arsenal had no experience in winning big matches against top sides- but that’s changed this year.
The Gunners played Manchester City off the field at the Etihad Stadium earlier this year to secure a victory, before beating Manchester United at Old Trafford in the FA Cup.
Arsenal didn’t beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the league but showed sheer improvements, until the red card, whilst they did also manage to beat the Blues in the Community Shield.
Manchester United’s defence
Manchester United boast a talented attack but their defence is still questionable, with Daley Blind at the centre of defence particularly vulnerable.
Santi Cazorla, Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil can all create, and take, chances against the Red Devils defence- which is likely to be exposed.
Arsenal boast experienced match-winners that can exploit the weak back-line.
They HAVE to win
It’s quite simple- if Arsenal lose tomorrow then that atmosphere in North London will be extremely toxic, whilst a draw won’t do much to quell the concerns.
For Arsenal this is a must win game- and this is where Arsenal thrive. They did it in the FA Cup games after the past few years, they also went to some of the hardest stadiums in Europe and secured the right result; although on those occasions goal-difference let’s them down.
This isn’t a game where Arsenal are expected to win- and that plays into their hands.

Year in, year out, Arsenal’s season is built around catastrophic results being followed by spectacular performances and victories to raise confidence.
We’ve already seen it this season, where Arsenal bounced-back from a defeat against Chelsea to beat North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup and then end Leicester City’s unbeaten start to the season.
