The Armenian captain had nothing short of the most sensational season for Borussia Dortmund, providing a staggering 32 assists and scoring a monumental 23 goals.
That is 55 goals from one man, 6 more than Manchester United managed to score in the whole season.
For that reason, of course, Europe’s best teams are all looking to sign the 27-year-old, including Manchester United, but Arsenal should definitely try and beat them to him, and here, the Landlord at the Tavern explains FIVE reasons why…..

Title contenders
Arsenal really looked like title challengers for the first few months of the season.
They led the league table at the turn of the year, and it looked as if Wenger’s men had all but wrapped the league title up.
But as per usual, Arsenal failed with consistency and let the league title slip.
Arsenal need a strong, proven player who can fire them to the league title.
The bartender at the Tavern believes that with Xhaka and Mkhitaryan (and perhaps Vardy), there is no stopping what Arsenal can achieve.
Lethal
Goals win games. Mkhitaryan is a footballing icon when he is in front of goal.
His statistics show that he is involved in at least a goal per game, that seems surreal to Arsenal fans, who have continuously watched Giroud mishit his shots into the stands and seen Walcott’s crosses reach absolutely nobody in the box.
Mkhitaryan is a game changer and one that could easily fire Arsenal to glory, that is what the man by the pool table said anyway…
Confidence
This may sound controversial, but Mesut Ozil wasn’t exactly the football genius that Arsenal fans expected when he first arrived in England.
In fact, it really took some time for the German to get going and perhaps he only properly found his feet this term in England.
However it is no coincidence that when the midfield maestro came to North London, Arsenal ended their 9 year trophy drought.
Big players bring confidence to the fans and players and some hunger to succeed.
The drunken man at the Tavern is still annoyed that Ozil didn’t reach the 20 assist mark, a feat that Mkhitaryan smashed in Germany.
Squad depth
Arsenal players sustain more injuries than any other club on the face of the earth.
It seems that the only man who hasn’t realised that Arsenal need strengthening and expanding on the squad is Arsene Wenger!
Not only would Mkhitaryan be a great player, it would be an incredible luxury for Arsenal to have player’s with Walcott, Chamberlain and Campbell’s quality on the bench.
However the Arsenal fans at the Tavern don’t think these players have any quality.
Big signings lead to more big signings
Big players want to play for big clubs, with big name players in big stadiums.
That’s what football is about.
If Arsenal were to sign Mkhitaryan, there could be a flurry of talent that want to join the North Londoners.
One signing can have a big impact on a club. Aguero transformed City, Vardy transformed Leicester and could Mkhitaryan be the man to fire Arsenal back to the top?
