‘Abort pursuit of Mahrez’ - Man City fans demand acquisition of 19-year-old winger on Twitter

The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern have been patiently awaiting some official news regarding the transfer of Riyad Mahrez, but recent reports have given them reason to believe their club should target one of Europe’s most exciting young talents.

Pep Guardiola’s pursuit of Mahrez has been one of the most widely documented transfer sagas of the calendar year thus far, however, reports from France regarding Paris Saint-Germain’s breach of Financial Fair Play rules have given the supporters reason to call for the signing of Kylian Mbappe.

According to the French media outlet RMC Sport, PSG will be sanctioned by UEFA this summer after breaking the FFP rules, although the exact details of the punishment are not yet clear.

There is a suggestion that they could be restricted in the transfer market as a consequence and could even be forced to offload players in order to balance the books, hence why the City fans have gathered in numbers to call for Mbappe to sign for City this summer.

With Mbappe’s fellow compatriot and former teammate Benjamin Mendy at the Etihad Stadium and already becoming a key figure of Guardiola’s squad, the 19-year-old wonderkid may be tempted to embark on a new challenge should an offer arrive for his services this summer.

Considering the immense level of talent Mbappe has demonstrated during his short career so far, it’s easy to see why the supporters are so eager to see him in a blue shirt next season, even if a transfer remains extremely unlikely despite reports from France.
