‘Absolutely world class ‘ - Man City fans laud 27-year-old after latest Twitter post

The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern are overjoyed with their side’s current run of form. Be it in the Premier League, the Carabao Cup, the FA Cup or even the Champions League, nothing can stop them at the moment.

Team after team have fallen domestically and continentally this term, and last night, it was the turn of FC Basel to face the Manchester giants – with the return of the Champions League.

Though Man City were expected to dominate the game, they weren’t expected to essentially win the fixture in the first clash, but that’s pretty much what they have done. A 4-0 result has put any fears of an upset to bed, with Pep Guardiola’s men really impressing against the Swiss side.

It was, simply put, a near perfect performance from the Citizens, as a collective, and nobody impressed more than German midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.

Though plagued with injuries since he moved to the Etihad, Gundogan has impressed whenever he has had a chance, and that was certainly true of his display on Wednesday. He picked up two goals against Basel, cementing the performance as his best yet since moving to Manchester.

Following the game, the player took to Twitter to celebrate both his result and the performance, and it’s fair to say that fans were pretty pleased with him down in the comments section.
