The Chronicle’s Mark Douglas has claimed that Newcastle United have been offered the chance to sign Ademola Lookman in the summer transfer window.
The Lowdown: Tight budget
As per Douglas, the St. James’ Park faithful have been operating on a ‘shoestring’ budget, amid their arbitration case against the Premier League being delayed until 2022.

This means that they will likely not be able to spend big fees on players, and as such, will be looking for potential bargains in the market.
The Latest: Lookman offered
Writing in his piece for The Chronicle, Douglas has claimed that the North East club have been offered Lookman, along with a number of other teams in the top flight.

The RB Leipzig ace, who is also interesting Southampton, is currently rated at £10m, which may be too much for the Tyneside club, despite Steve Bruce being a fan of his.
The Verdict: Sign
Lookman could well be an exciting signing for the Magpies, as he proved his qualities with some of his performances while on loan at Fulham in the 2020/21 season, with Toon legend Alan Shearer dubbing him as a ‘fantastic’ player back in April.
Being English, he helps fill the home-grown quota too, and at 23 years of age, still has a lot of potential to develop even further.
Thus, £10m could well turn out to be a snip, so long as NUFC can afford it.
