Glasgow Rangers have had some fantastic talent play for them down the years and Jorg Albertz was one of those who lit up Ibrox during his spell there.

The ‘Gers paid £4m for the German in 1996 and he would end up spending five years at the club. During that time, he made more than 150 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring 51 goals in the Premiership. In all, he won the league title three times whilst he also lifted the Scottish Cup and the Scottish League Cup twice apiece (as per Transfermarkt).

His last appearance came on 20 May 2001, a match in which he scored in a 4-0 win over Hibernian. To commemorate the anniversary of that day, the club’s official Twitter account shared a picture of him kissing the club’s badge, which appears to have brought a tear to many of the supporters’ eyes.
They have taken to the social media platform to share their thoughts on the photo and you can see some of the best comments below:

One of the greatest players to grace the jersey that I’ve seen play. Need someone of similar quality as The Hammer back in the squad.
